Manager, IT Program Management
Your Opportunity
Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.
Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning.
Our organization implements trading capabilities and risk management capabilities for Equities, Options, Futures, and Forex for Schwab’s active trader client base at scale of 7+ million trades per day, along with providing efficient and flexible experience for day-to-day operations. Next Gen Order Management System (ngOMS) sits at the core of Schwab’s trading ecosystem, serving as the backbone that enables seamless order flow while integrating with numerous upstream and downstream platforms. Given its business-critical role, the ngOMS QA function is equally vital, requiring rigorous testing, comprehensive automation, disciplined regression coverage, and tightly coordinated releases to ensure platform stability, reliability, and operational resilience. A dedicated QA Project Manager is instrumental in making this possible.
We are looking for an experienced QA Project Manager to create, maintain, support, and improve complex technology QA operations for ngOMS. The QA Project Manager not only performs the core foundational Agile ceremonies, but also drives alignment across QA workstreams, manages dependencies, maintains clear priorities, and quickly resolves impediments that could impact testing or release timelines.
Responsible for continually checking on the health, teamwork, and effectiveness of the Agile Team and enables the Team to improve their practices within frameworks in use
Monitors the flow of the Team’s work, educates the Agile Team on the importance of steady flow of work, and works with the Team and Management to improve it
Takes measurements on the health, teamwork, and effectiveness of the Agile Team to help them generate insights for their own and organizational improvement opportunities
Triggers impediment and waste removal within and around the Agile Team so that the Team will be more self-organizing and self-reliant
Understanding of sub-functional priorities and how this contributes the success of the function and organization
Facilitates Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives by working with the teams and Product Owners to ensure effective planning and outcomes
Analyzes multiple sources of information and evaluates several alternative solutions before confirming path forward, intermediate skills in estimation, planning, relative sizing, prioritization, metrics analysis, team dynamics analysis, and Product Backlog management
In addition to the core foundation project management responsibilities, this role is especially critical in supporting and scaling the effectiveness of a QA team comprising 40+ engineers across Manual, Automation, and Regression Testing teams. Coordinating testing efforts at this scale requires strong operational structure, consistent processes, and proactive planning to ensure quality objectives are met without disruption. The QA Project Manager serves as a central point of coordination across teams, bringing clarity to complex discussions, coordinating across stakeholders, and ensuring work stays aligned with delivery and release commitments. This role also drives continuous improvement through increased automation adoption, stronger knowledge sharing, streamlined onboarding, and more predictable execution, ultimately creating an efficient, and high-performing QA organization.
