Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) develop and operates Schwab's most innovative products with a primary goal of delighting our clients while empowering them to meet their financial objectives. The Digital Advice Technology team is looking for a senior software engineer to design/develop major enhancements to the Planning suite of products and create new products that positively impact our clients and those who serve our clients. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute to a highly collaborative culture and Agile team environment. The ability to deliver innovative, secure, and reliable solutions is key to success in this role. Our Software Applications Engineers are driven to learn, grow, and continuously contribute to evolving the Schwab experience and technology.

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR related practical experience
  • 7+ years professional experience in software engineering
  • 4+ years leveraging object oriented languages such as C#, Java, and/or C++
  • 3+ years experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • 3+ years experience working with test automation frameworks such as Specflow
  • Experience Migrating applications from SNE to PCF or public cloud
  • Extensive knowledge of PCF, Bamboo, and other aspects of the Schwab build pipeline
  • Certification and/or experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Ability to develop unit and acceptance tests, and effectively automate test execution
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to contribute to all phases of the SDLC
    • Requirements review
    • Design implementation
    • All aspects of testing
    • Production implementation and support
    • Data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of creating cloud-native applications
  • Experience writing and supporting C# Libraries
  • Automation Testing knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of Software Security Practices and defensive coding
  • Expertise in Design Patterns and System Design/Architecture
  • Knowledge of Finance and good business practices
  • Familiarity with GitHub and GitHub Actions
  • Hunger to learn and an intense technical curiosity
  • Knowledge and experience on setting organization wide technical directives
  • Desire to mentor and grow junior developers
  • Critical thinker and solutions-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to learn new technologies
  • Tenacity and persistence

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
