Schwab Asset Management (SAM) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation and has over $1.6 Trillion assets under management in mutual funds, ETFs and separately managed account strategies. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, asset allocation strategies, and money markets funds. SAM uses a consistent and disciplined approach to investing across all our products and seeks to develop innovative new products to meet the core investing needs of our clients.  The SAM Investment Risk Team quantifies and reports on the investment risk of more than 493 different investment portfolios and strategies.

The Manager on the SAM Index and Active Equity Investment Products and Solutions Team will contribute to the strategic efforts that drive client adoption of Schwab index and active equity investment products, including exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, and separately managed accounts (SMAs). This individual will provide strong analytical guidance and competitive insights, that will help to evolve and expand the current product offering. The Manager will be accountable for ensuring data and industry insights are accurate, timely, and aligned with our business objectives. This person will need to develop a strong, forward-looking point of view around competitive pressures, as well as what improvements are most relevant to our clients. The Manager will work closely with key business partners to deliver effective and meaningful execution of ideas.

What you are good at

  • Provide strategic, innovative thinking to help improve data and competitive reporting
  • Closely work with partners to optimize, streamline, and scale operations to provide more timely delivery of insightful communications
  • Prioritize business objectives and identify the right strategy and tactics to support priorities
  • Measure and evaluate the impact of communications, including feedback analysis and post-launch reports and results
  • Evolve and improve our ability to provide meaningful and impactful communications to both our internal partners and external clients
  • Act as an industry expert and liaison to enable the broader team to meet external partner needs, and be proactive in reaching out to critical players
  • Work collaboratively with teams across Schwab to ensure messaging and positioning for products is consistent
  • Subject matter expert supporting RFPs and consultant database requests
  • Engage in research on funds, industry, and competitive trends
  • Present numerical data effectively using Excel tables and graphs

What you have


  • Comfort working with various database across multiple providers
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including VBA experience and comfort building and working with macros
  • Highly organized and detail-orientated
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, including a robust knowledge of ETFs
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry, especially as it relates to asset management and related product solutions
  • Solid project management skills, successfully working in a cross-functional capacity to design and implement a project approach and deliver on stated outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive, collaborative relationships across a broad array of functional areas
  • Strong communication skills, comfort creating presentations to business partners
  • Experience in marketing or strategic analysis, within financial services
  • Proactively confronts challenges and is able to make tough choices while confidently communicating difficult messages with transparency and candor
  • Flexibility and comfort working with ambiguity and adapting to change
  • Curious with a can-do attitude and the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a complex, dynamic environment
  • 5+ years relevant strategy, data analytics, competitive analysis, or product management experience
