We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our team and help build modern, scalable web applications using React and Next.js, with integrations to headless CMS platforms such as Sanity.
In this role, you will help lead the development and enhancements of user-facing applications, contribute to reusable component architecture, mentor engineers and support content-driven experiences across our digital platforms. You will partner closely with product, design, and engineering teams while leveraging modern practices, including AI-assisted development, to accelerate delivery and raise the bar for quality, performance, and innovation. It is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who wants to build meaningful client experiences and make a lasting mark on Schwab’s future.
What You Have:
• Working closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and help translate these into technical requirements for the development team
• Directing the development team in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of applications
• Build semantically correct user-friendly web pages, emails, and assets
• Mentor engineers in best practices
• Ensure best practices when committing code to our React component library.
• Collaborate with a variety of different teams including designers, architects, back-end teams
What you have
Required Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related experience
▪ 5+ years of software development experience
▪ 3+ years of deep experience building applications with React.js
▪ Strong proficiency in:
▪ JavaScript / TypeScript
▪ HTML5, CSS3
▪ Modern frontend tooling
▪ Expertise in:
▪ React (hooks, component architecture, lifecycle)
▪ Frontend application design and state management
▪ Experience building:
▪ Scalable, maintainable UI components
▪ Responsive, cross-browser applications
▪ Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills
▪ Experience cross browser testing and device testing.
▪ Comfortable debugging using a variety of tools including chrome inspector
Preferred Skills:
▪ Experience with Next.js application development
▪ Experience with shadcn and Tailwind CSS
▪ Experience with headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentful, etc.)
▪ Familiarity with:
▪ GraphQL
▪ Design systems and component libraries
▪ Performance optimization and Core Web Vitals
▪ Docker
▪ Experience with:
▪ Testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright)
▪ CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows
▪ Experience with A/B testing
