The Retail Web Tech Move Money team powers one of Charles Schwab's most critical client experiences, enabling secure, seamless, and real-time movement of funds across a variety of payment channels and platforms.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and supporting scalable, resilient, and compliant solutions that facilitate millions of client transactions, including transfers, payments, and emerging money movement capabilities.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, driving the delivery of complex initiatives while ensuring operational excellence, system reliability, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with product, architecture, operations, and partner teams to modernize platforms, solve challenging business problems, and deliver exceptional client experiences. This position offers the opportunity to influence technology strategy, mentor engineering talent, and play a key role in shaping the future of Schwab's money movement ecosystem.
What you Have:
•Drive the successful execution of complex, business-critical programs and technology initiatives, ensuring high-quality outcomes, timely delivery, and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Maintain the stability, performance, and resilience of critical applications by overseeing platform health, incident management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Guide and mentor engineers, foster a culture of accountability and collaboration, and support the team's growth through technical leadership, coaching, and clear execution priorities.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, operations, compliance, and external partner teams to manage dependencies, resolve challenges, and ensure seamless delivery of solutions that enhance the client experience.
• Contribute to long-term technology planning, platform modernization, and architectural decisions while balancing scalability, security, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.
What you have
- 8+ years of experience in full-stack web application development, with a strong emphasis on front-end engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Angular, TypeScript, and modern client-side MVC/MVVM frameworks, with strong expertise in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines in Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), including Bamboo-based build and deployment processes, release planning, coordination, and production readiness activities.
• Experience with source control management and migration initiatives, including transitioning to GitHub and modern development workflows.
• Proven experience migrating applications and infrastructure from on-premises and private cloud environments to public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Practical experience leveraging GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery outcomes.
• Strong development expertise in C# and .NET Core, including designing, developing, and integrating SOAP and RESTful APIs and services.
• Solid understanding of application security and code quality practices, including hands-on experience with tools such as Veracode and SonarQube.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver highly scalable, maintainable, and user-centric web applications with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders across technical and business organizations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience working in fast-paced, customer-focused Agile environments.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a passion for adopting emerging technologies and engineering best practices.
• Experience implementing unit testing strategies, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Strong expertise in web application performance analysis and optimization, including Time to Interactive (TTI) measurements, performance tuning, and Real User Monitoring (RUM) using tools such as Akamai mPulse.
• Hands-on experience implementing and validating web accessibility standards (WCAG), including the use of accessibility testing tools such as Axe.
• Proficiency in application monitoring, troubleshooting, and log analysis using platforms such as Splunk.
• Strong understanding of modern authentication and authorization frameworks and protocols, including OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, and related identity management concepts.
