Estate Services is a specialized organization within the broader Schwab Operational Services Enterprise providing high-touch service to our clients and to the advisors that serve them. The Hybrid Estate Relationship Specialist role is primarily focused on resolving Estate cases and/or Durable Power of Attorney cases where service levels demand. This includes interpreting and processing legal documentation, mitigating financial and legal risk to the firm, reviewing and processing paperwork, and general inquiries from clients, attorneys, and internal business partners.
Relationship Specialists will own cases from start to finish, calling out to clients to provide them with contact information and working with the client via phone or email until the inquiry is resolved. Processing work is primarily available via our internal imaging system. Communications with clients are done via inbound and outbound phone calls, email correspondence and unique correspondence via mail.
As a Relationship Specialist, you will serve as a trusted resource for clients and internal partners, providing expert guidance on complex estate, power of attorney, trust, and financial matters. This role requires balancing client needs, regulatory requirements, and business priorities while delivering an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, agents, and heirs, offering compassionate and professional guidance through processes.
- Interpret and apply business rules, federal and state regulations, and internal policies to support accurate and compliant decision-making.
- Evaluate and resolve client needs by leveraging advanced knowledge, internal resources, and the EDGE model to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Demonstrate strong client service skills by building trust, maintaining positive relationships, and resolving issues effectively.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders to address escalated inquiries and ensure timely resolutions.
- Empower clients by explaining options clearly, setting expectations, and supporting informed decision-making.
- Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and enhance satisfaction.
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months of experience working in Schwab Estates Services (required).
- 2+ years of operational experience in legal, financial services, or related fields, including brokerage, banking, legal/paralegal, or research
- 1–2 years of experience handling estate, power of attorney, trust, or retirement services topics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing processes, regulations, and client needs.
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
