Director, Fraud Data, Analytics & Insights

Fraud prevention is one of the most important ways Schwab protects clients, strengthens trust, and supports long-term business growth. The Director, Fraud Data, Analytics & Insights will help shape how Schwab measures, governs, and uses data to improve fraud-risk decisions across the firm, reporting to the Managing Director, 1st Line Fraud Risk Management.

The Director will be responsible for gathering insights into fraud patterns and trends and using those insights to drive strategic direction of the program, partnering across the Business, Financial Crimes Risk Management, Technology and Operations teams.  The program is responsible for coordinating fraud prevention, authentication, identity verification, and enablement of fraud-risk capabilities across the firm.

Key areas of responsibility include data analysis and visualization, data quality and governance, ownership of and roadmap for data tooling and maturation (which may include business-led development, AI solutions or future state capabilities) and creating and maintaining metrics and dashboards to deliver insights and translate impact to our stakeholders. You will establish and lead a federated analytics operating model across stakeholder groups, aligning data SMEs, technology partners, and business leaders around common definitions, standards, metrics, and reporting routines.  This role will serve as the central hub for bringing together disparate fraud-risk data and reporting from across the organization, creating a more consistent view of performance, trends, and emerging risks for leadership decision-making.

Success requires translating complex information into clear business insights, influencing decisions with facts and analytics, and building a high-performing team focused on business intelligence, governance, and executive transparency.

What You'll Do

Analytics, Measurement & Decision Support

  • Enhance the use of data to spot emerging fraud trends, coordinate how we measure the effectiveness of our various fraud tools, and incorporate data into decision making.
  • Centralize and aggregate information generated across multiple tools and teams so it can be analyzed through common definitions, taxonomies, and measurement practices.
  • Develop insights into fraud trends, authentication performance, program health, client impact, and risk outcomes.
  • Apply critical thinking skills that consider upstream and downstream impacts and appropriate solutions that help identify root cause drivers of fraud.
  • Establish program scorecards, key performance indicators, outcome measures, and reporting standards.

Executive Reporting & Governance

  • Lead executive dashboards, reporting packages, governance materials, and recurring management updates.
  • Create clear reporting that shows portfolio progress, risk exposure, business outcomes, and achievement of objectives.
  • Develop concise narratives and visualizations that make complex information easy to understand and act on.
  • Reconcile differing interpretations of data and create clear, consistent leadership messaging that supports aligned decisions and measurable outcomes.
  • Support governance committees, senior leadership reviews, and strategic planning discussions.

Data Governance & Business Enablement

  • Partner with Technology and data owners to continue to shape the future-state data architecture, platform roadmap, and pipeline modernization strategy required to support scalable fraud analytics.
  • Drive business adoption of enterprise fraud data assets, reporting tools, and analytics capabilities.
  • Evaluate options to strengthen the analytics and reporting approach, including existing enterprise tools, partnerships with data-platform owners, business-led solutions, and potential third-party capabilities.
  • Identify data quality issues, reporting gaps, and governance opportunities that affect decision-making and lead resolution.
  • Serve as a key business partner to the Fraud Data Platform owners; this role is not accountable for data architecture, engineering, platform development, or technical data-product ownership.

Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team across analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and governance.
  • Build and mature a new centralized capability, establishing the operating routines, governance disciplines, and team structure needed to scale over time.
  • Build scalable capabilities for reporting, measurement, and executive transparency across SAFE.
  • Strengthen partnerships across business, technology, product, finance, and risk teams.
  • Promote analytical rigor, clear communication, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
