Role Overview
The Director, Cost Basis (PL) will provide strategic leadership for a team of senior managers responsible for delivering exceptional advisor support while managing operational risk, regulatory requirements, and business initiatives related to Cost Basis. This leader will drive performance, foster talent development, and partner across the organization to improve advisor experiences, enhance operational efficiency, and support key business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, develop, and coach a team of Senior Managers by establishing clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Build leadership capability through coaching, recognition, and professional development opportunities.
• Drive organizational effectiveness through workforce planning, performance management, and talent development strategies.
Advisor & Client Experience
• Serve as the escalation point for complex advisor and client issues involving Cost Basis, tax-related inquiries, corporate actions, and statement preferences.
• Deliver timely, effective resolutions while balancing client experience, regulatory requirements, and operational risk.
Risk Management & Operational Excellence
• Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate operational, compliance, and service risks impacting the business.
Champion process improvements, automation opportunities, and scalable solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, and controls.
• Ensure consistent execution of departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Strategic Initiatives & Business Partnership
• Partner with Product, Technology, Operations, and business stakeholders to influence strategic priorities and improve advisor-facing capabilities.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives that drive innovation, operational efficiency, and business growth.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the Cost Basis organization through data-driven decision making and thought leadership.
What you have
- Series 7 and Series 63 or 66 licenses; Series 9 and 10 required.
• 3-5+ years of people leadership experience, preferably within financial services.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated success leading leaders, driving performance, and developing talent.
• Strong understanding of Advisor Services operations, Cost Basis principles, tax reporting concepts, and associated risk considerations.
• Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
• Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and risk assessment capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, drive change, and deliver business results through partnership and collaboration.
