As part of the Retail Client Experience and Brokerage Products organization, the Director of Complex Products Strategy & Distribution is responsible for leading design and implementation of Schwab’s enterprise complex product distribution framework. The Director will establish a scalable operating model that governs how complex investment products are distributed, supervised, serviced, and supported across client segments and channels. They will serve as the distribution and operating model lead, ensuring alignment with product classification, risk tiering, controls, governance, and education workstreams. This individual will partner with Product, Retail, Advisor Services, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Supervision, and Operations to create consistent client and representative experiences while enabling future product innovation.

What you will do:

• Design and maintain an enterprise distribution framework for complex products, creating reusable operating model patterns.
• Define end-to-end client and representative journeys across multiple distribution models and identify opportunities to standardize experiences and roles.
• Lead cross-enterprise working groups to define future-state distribution approaches and operational requirements.
• Present recommendations and strategic decisions to senior leadership and governance committees.
• Drive alignment among Product, Field, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Supervision stakeholders on complex product policies and distribution strategies.
• Develop governance structures, decision forums, issue management processes, and implementation roadmaps supporting enterprise adoption.
• Translate strategic frameworks into actionable business requirements, operating procedures, and implementation priorities.
• Ensure complex product operating models are designed with a seamless client and representative experience in mind, incorporating client needs, servicing requirements, supervision, and risk controls into future-state solutions.

What you have

Required:

• 10+ years of experience in business strategy, product management, or risk management role.
• Extensive knowledge about complex products, including alternative investments, separately managed accounts, and ETFs.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships across Legal, Compliance, Sales Operations, Risk, Technology, Product, Service, and Field-facing teams to drive business outcomes.
• Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to use data, field and client feedback, competitive research, and risk considerations to frame options and recommendations.
• Highly resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem solver, who can thrive in a dynamic environment, solve issues with urgency as they arise, and drive progress in ambiguous situations.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills and executive presence, including ability to simplify complex topics for varied audiences.
• Able to influence and create alignment across an organization.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
• Proficiency with prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Understanding of Schwab’s operating model and client/field service environment, particularly with how the field provides advice.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional workstreams from strategy through implementation, including establishing structure, aligning stakeholders, facilitating decisions, and driving accountability for outcomes.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
