As an Annuities Director, you will lead a specialized organization responsible for delivering consultative annuity education, product guidance, sales support, and service experiences that help clients and partners navigate complex retirement income needs. This is an exciting opportunity to be a driver of growth, leadership, business transformation, and innovation in a business that continues to scale in importance across Schwab.
You will be expected to champion our clients’ and partners’ goals, set a clear strategic vision for the annuities business, lead through change, and develop high-performing leaders and teams. The role requires strong business acumen, sales leadership, executive presence, and the ability to align cross-functional partners across sales, service, product, platform, operations, supervision, risk, compliance, and field leadership to drive better outcomes.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Represent the Schwab brand as a trusted leader and brand ambassador in all interactions with clients, employees, business partners, and senior leaders
- Lead two annuity sales teams and one service team with three direct report, people leaders
- Develop, communicate, and execute a compelling strategic vision for the annuities business
- Drive sales leadership effectiveness by strengthening coaching, pipeline management, practice management, partner engagement, referral penetration, and disciplined execution of business development priorities
- Translate organizational priorities into actionable business plans, key results, and operating routines that help teams prioritize the highest-value work
- Hold leaders and teams accountable for achievement of quantitative and qualitative measures, including sales results, client experience, service levels, call quality, supervision expectations, employee engagement, and development progress
- Build and develop a high performing leadership team through coaching and development
- Attract and retain top talent through focus on employee engagement, creation of a positive work culture and a strong orientation to personal growth and development
- Partner across product, platform, operations, branches, supervision, compliance, risk, and technology to advance annuity strategy, remove barriers, and align around common business outcomes
- Use market, client, partner, capacity, and revenue insights to shape priorities
- Lead through change with clarity, urgency, and practical tradeoff decisions
- Improve workflows, scale, controls, and the client and employee experience
- Ensure sales and client activities are appropriately supervised
- Influence effectively across a matrixed organization
- Build a collaborative culture rooted in accountability, recognition, inclusion, and Schwab values
Additional Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in sales leadership, service leadership, financial services, wealth management, or related leadership roles
- Proven experience leading leaders and developing high-performing sales and service teams in a complex, matrixed environment
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute a strategic roadmap that advances business results, client outcomes, employee experience, and operational scale
- Strong understanding of annuities, retirement income, wealth management, and the competitive landscape
- Proven ability to lead sales teams, strengthen consultative sales behaviors and partner with field and advisor-facing organizations to grow the business
- Executive presence and communication skills, including comfort creating and delivering presentations to senior leaders, business partners, and cross-functional audiences
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills with the ability to establish credibility, influence senior leaders, build trust with partners, and motivate teams through ambiguity and change
- Ability to listen well, think strategically and creatively, diagnose root causes, make tradeoff decisions, and generate action through persuasion and clear prioritization
- Experience coaching people leaders, managing performance, supporting career development, and creating team cultures grounded in accountability, recognition, inclusion, and growth
- Bias for action with the ability to overcome obstacles, simplify complexity, and maintain momentum across multiple priorities and partner groups
- Active FINRA Series 7 and 63/66 and Series 9/10 licenses required based on role requirements
- Active life and health insurance license strongly preferred
- Professional designations such as CFP®, CFA®, CIMA®, or MBA preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
