​​Schwab is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about technology, innovation, and delivering scalable enterprise solutions. This role will be part of the Digital Utilities Technology organization, responsible for building and modernizing critical platforms that support document processing, workflow automation, resiliency, and operational efficiency across Schwab. 

The ideal candidate will be a strong full-stack engineer with deep expertise in .NET, Angular, SQL Server, and enterprise application development. This individual will play a key role in driving platform modernization initiatives, simplifying complex systems, improving reliability, adopting cloud-native technologies, and helping the organization expand its use of AI-enabled capabilities. Candidates should thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership of complex technical challenges, collaborate effectively across teams, and continuously seek opportunities to improve both business outcomes and engineering efficiency.​ 

What you'll do:

  • ​​Collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, QA, and business partners to design and deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions. 
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend services, APIs, and applications using .NET and C#. 
  • Build and enhance modern web applications using Angular and contemporary front-end development practices. 
  • Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server database solutions, ensuring performance, scalability, and data integrity. 
  • Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, Agile ceremonies, release planning, and technical estimation. 
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and propose scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions. 
  • Contribute to application modernization, cloud adoption, resiliency, and engineering automation initiatives. 
  • Develop automation solutions that improve engineering productivity, software quality, and operational efficiency. 
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions. 
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to application and platform design decisions. 
  • Conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices related to quality, security, performance, and maintainability. 
  • Support CI/CD implementation, automated testing, deployment automation, and DevOps practices. 
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers while fostering a collaborative engineering culture. 
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to proof-of-concepts and technical innovation initiatives. 
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.​ 

What you have


To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience building enterprise applications. 
  • Strong experience developing backend services and APIs using .NET Core/.NET and C#. 
  • Strong experience developing modern web applications using Angular. 
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SOLID principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices. 
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, performance tuning, and advanced SQL development. 
  • Experience working with distributed systems, APIs, and enterprise application architectures. 
  • Hands-on experience using GitHub, pull requests, and collaborative development workflows. 
  • Experience conducting code reviews and improving software quality. 
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and DevOps practices. 
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues within enterprise applications. 
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments. 
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Foundry (PCF), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or similar cloud platforms. 
  • Working knowledge of containerization technologies and Kubernetes concepts. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.​ 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with application modernization and technology migration initiatives. 
  • Experience developing automation solutions that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency. 
  • Experience building event-driven, message-based, or microservices architectures. 
  • Experience with AI-enabled technologies, document processing platforms, model training workflows, or intelligent automation solutions. 
  • Exposure to prompt engineering, AI-assisted development, agent-based automation, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or similar emerging AI technologies. 
  • Experience designing and evaluating proof-of-concepts and technical innovation initiatives. 
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture patterns and observability platforms. 
  • Experience supporting highly available, resilient enterprise applications.​ 

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
