Your opportunity
Charles Schwab Investment Management Technology provides application strategy, development and support for the Investment Management teamslocatedin San Francisco CA, DenverCOand Chicago IL. Applications support the investment life cycle to include front office functions such as Equity and Fixed Income Trading, Portfolio Management, Investment Risk and Trade Compliance.
We are looking for a senior programmaticdeveloperwithdemonstratedability todevelop/testapplicationswithinthe financialspace in adata centric environment. This is asenior levelindividual contributor position aimed at deliveringdevelopmentto theInvestment Advisoryteam.
Whoyou are:
- Above allelseyou’rean engineerand a full stackdeveloper(Data-Services-UI). You solve problemsthroughbuildinga robust, stable, secure application development.You’recurious and hungry to learn new things andlooktomake along-lastingimpact on the project.
- Youdeveloped features and unittested complex systems in the past.Youare strong in Java, SpringBoot,SpringBatch,Struts, knowhow to create your own REST servicesandare familiar withparsing JSON and XML.
- You worked in an Agile environmentin the past. Iterativefeaturedevelopment and working aspart of a distributed engineeringteamdoesn’tscare you.
- You contribute toopen-sourceprojects. If you have github.com contributions –we’dlove to check themout.
- You’relifelonglearner.You’reable to grasp difficult concepts and complex designs andstayson top of new and emerging technologies. Do you have a stackoverflow.com account?
What you have

Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of strong, demonstrable experience working assoftwaredeveloper/architectusingJAVAprogramminglanguage.
- Good understandingofinvestment/trading life cycleandbefamiliar withcompliance use cases and data requirements to supportthelifecycle.
- Understanding of Security Tools anditsbehaviors
- Tools:SAST DAST SCA like Veracode,BlackDuck,Whitehat, Qualys
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of common CVEs and potential remediations
- Understanding of commonly used Securitylibs (preferably Java)
- Experiencein spring/strutsframeworks. Ability to lead and help the team with technical inputs.
- Practical knowledge and use of Design Patterns(Strategy, Factory, Singletonetc)
- Experienceusing ‘git’ as source control system (cherry-pick, merge conflict resolutionshould be second nature to you)
- Experience working inCI/CD environment. (Bamboo)One should be able tocreate,modifyand execute job from scratch using ‘git’ as source
- Experience inOracle, DB2, Mongo, Redis database concepts
- Comfort with the Atlassiantoolset (Jira, Confluence, Zephyr)
- Experience mentoring junior level engineersismust.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or similarareaof study
- Financial Services experience is a strong plus
- Tech stack – Java, JSP, Struts, Spring, EJB,FjTask, Redis, Oracle, Maven,Bitbucket, Jenkins
