Senior AI Product Managers on AI.x, play an essential role in advancing Schwab’s priorities by driving the development and execution of innovative AI product strategies. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, AI to lead the development and enhancement of our clientfacing artificial intelligence experiences. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, research, business enablement, compliance, and cross-functional product teams. The Senior Product Manager will identify opportunities to expand the GenAI foundation at Schwab, empowering teams across Schwab to test, build, and deploy GenAI solutions. The role requires a deep knowledge and experience in building AI-enabled products, an excellent and constantly updating knowledge of GenAI capabilities, and user-centered design.
You will drive significant strategy, planning, prioritization, and trade-off decisions. You will balance competing demands from business interests across the enterprise. You will determine how to move forward, with a bias towards action, to deliver the greatest possible advancement towards Schwab’s goals while ensuring compliance within the financial services industry.
What You’ll do
- Collaboratively define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Schwab's client facing AI experiences in alignment with business and technology goals.
- Partner with R&D to define evaluation strategies for measuring and monitoring the quality of generative AI output.
- Define metrics to estimate hallucination impact, output acceptance, and safety concerns.
- Communicate key metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in terms of trends over time, variance, and business impact.
- Distill MVPs and iterative deliverables from long-term product visions and goals.
- Define and champion the near-term product vision, ensuring alignment with Schwab’s strategic goals. Classification: Schwab Internal
- Oversee the product lifecycle from concept to launch, including user research, requirements gathering, and go-to-market strategy.
- Advocate for a strong user experience incorporating user feedback and analytics into product development to ensure the tool is intuitive and effective.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks throughout the product development process.
- Build enablement and onboarding plans to champion and empower internal teams to leverage platform tools.
- Rigorously and dynamically prioritize the product roadmap, ensuring the development team is creating value with each iterative delivery.
What you have
Required Qualification:
- BA/BS degree
- 7-10+ years of professional IT or Product development experience
- 5+ years of direct product experience
- 3+ years of experience working closely with software engineers
- Strong understanding of how modern GenAI systems work, including large language models (LLMs) (models that generate text), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) (grounding answers in approved documents/data), system prompts (instructions that guide the model), and multi-step AI workflows that can plan and complete tasks.
- Strong understanding of basic statistics, probability distributions, and the fundamentals of measurement
- Demonstrable experience using/building generative AI solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Graduate degree in Computer Science or another field related to AI.
- Professional experience in product management, engineering, or data science.
- Experience building multi-step GenAI workflows where the AI can follow a process (for example: gather information, draft an output, and request a review) while keeping strong controls and auditability.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization; strong business influence skills.
- Ability to distill strategy, analytics and varied sets of input to drive decisions across stakeholder communities and build credibility with peers and key stakeholders (at all levels of the organization).
- Passion for identifying user pain points, generating ideas to relieve them, and acting swiftly to test potential solutions.
- Self-starter with outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and desire to continually reevaluate existing products and processes.
- Comfort in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
- Curiosity to continually learn and keep up to date with the latest GenAI capabilities.
