MD, Digital Front Door Experiences
Your Opportunity
Managing Director, Digital Front Doors
Role Overview
Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, a preferred candidate for this role has been identified.
The Managing Director, Digital Front Doors is responsible for defining and delivering Schwab’s public/pre-authenticated mobile, web and app digital experience across Retail, Advisor Services, and Workplace experiences.
Schwab’s digital properties are our primary interaction channel with clients and prospects—and increasingly, our first and sometimes only opportunity to engage an audience and shape their perception of the brand. These experiences must both function seamlessly—helping users find, learn, and act—and leave a clear, differentiated impression of Schwab.
The current site experience was designed for a prior digital model and no longer reflects how users discover, evaluate, and engage with brands today. As search and discovery increasingly occur through intelligent user agents and AI-driven systems—alongside human audiences—our digital front doors must be optimized for both people and machines.
At the same time, Schwab’s recent brand evolution raises expectations for clarity, cohesion, and emotional connection. Together, these shifts create a clear imperative to redesign our site experience: to better express the brand, improve performance and conversion, and ensure our content is discoverable, compelling, and effective in a rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
The Managing Director owns the end-to-end experience system determining how Schwab shows up digitally, including user experience strategy and design, content creation, content frameworks, and storytelling execution across journeys.
This role is accountable for ensuring digital experiences are cohesive, high-quality, and effective in delivering business outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and implementing experience design strategies across Schwab’s Digital Front Doors.
- Creating and scaling content and storytelling frameworks that translate audience strategy into effective digital execution
- Overseeing content creation and experience design at scale, ensuring consistency, quality, and reuse across journeys
- Designing and governing the structure of the digital experience, including how journeys, pages, and content connect to function as an integrated system
- Ensuring Schwab’s digital storefronts deliver both functional utility and a differentiated, on-brand experience across all audiences
- Partnering closely with Audience Marketing, Channel Management and Optimization, and Marketing Technology to activate and deliver experiences effectively
- Owning performance outcomes for the Digital Front Doors (e.g., engagement, conversion), with ongoing testing and optimization, in partnership with Channel Optimization teams.
This role operates as a central enterprise capability, translating marketing strategy into scalable, high-impact digital experiences and ensuring Schwab shows up consistently, effectively, and competitively across all digital front doors.
Organizational Scope and Impact
This role operates across all major business units and audiences, with responsibility for the digital experience across Retail, Advisor Services, Workplace, and Product marketing properties.
The Managing Director oversees the design and evolution of the full digital experience system, ensuring Schwab’s sites function as a cohesive ecosystem rather than a collection of independent pages or journeys. The work directly impacts client acquisition, engagement, and product adoption, as well as the effectiveness of marketing investments across channels.
The organization includes multiple Director-level leaders responsible for core capability areas such as UX Strategy and Experience Design, Content Creation and Content Systems, and Content Structure and Information Architecture, as well as senior leaders aligned to key audiences to ensure effective application across contexts. The structure reflects a multi-layered organization with broad functional and cross-enterprise scope.
Level of Influence and Responsibility
This role operates as a central enterprise leader responsible for defining how Schwab’s digital experiences are designed, structured, and expressed.
The Managing Director partners closely with senior leaders across Audience Marketing, Channel Management and Optimization, Marketing Technology, Product, and Risk. Audience Marketing leaders retain ownership of audience strategy, priorities, and narrative direction; this role is responsible for translating those strategies into effective, scalable digital experiences.
The MD sets the bar for what constitutes a high-quality, differentiated, and on-brand digital experience, establishing the frameworks, systems, and expectations that guide execution across the enterprise.
Decision-making is collaborative. While audience teams retain final authority on audience-specific decisions, this role has significant influence through its ownership of the experience system, standards, and execution model.
The role is also accountable for digital experience performance, working in partnership with Channel Optimization teams, who are responsible for in-market execution and continuous improvement.
