At Schwab Asset Management (SAM), the Analytics Strategy & Development team supports the firm's key decisions with powerful tools, analytics, and insights. This is a Director-level individual contributor role, but operates with a high degree of autonomy and serves as a strategic partner within the Risk, Credit & Performance organization, influencing priorities, analytical standards, and capability development across the firm.
This individual will collaborate across the broader Risk, Credit, & Performance organization, and partner with other teams including Business Intelligence and Technology. The role requires a strong understanding of investment concepts and an ability to balance clear communication with analytical development. A key part of this role will be enabling the use of GenAI tools across the Risk, Credit & Performance organization and shaping the organization’s GenAI strategy.
What you are good at:
Strategy:
- Build relationships with stakeholders to understand analytical needs and priorities
- Promote best practices for presenting investment metrics and visuals, monitor industry trends
- Create clear talking points and explanations for key analyses
- Partner with data and technology teams as we execute on our development roadmap
- Help lead the GenAI Enablement initiative to support the adoption of GenAI tools and workflows
Development:
- Develop tools for calculation, analysis, and visualization using Tableau, Power BI, Python, and other systems
- Uncover new opportunities for analysis with a firm-wide perspective to promote clarity and consistency
- Help make analytics tools (e.g. Python, Bloomberg) more effective and accessible for internal users
- Work with technology, data, and business intelligence teams to support centralization and automation of data
- Develop, test, and refine GenAI prompts to enhance business processes
What you have
This role is an individual contributor with accountability for strategy, standards, and outcomes rather than direct people management.
- 10-12+ years of investment industry experience, ideally with exposure to performance and/or risk
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to convey analytical concepts clearly
- Proven ability to build productive relationships across teams
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Experience setting team direction and leading complex, cross-team initiatives
- Technical skills, including:
- Analytics software such as Tableau or Power BI
- Programming experience in Python
- Experience with investment platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, or Morningstar
- Curiosity about GenAI and a desire to enable these tools safely and effectively
