As Head of International Products and Distribution [Strategy], you will lead Schwab Asset Management’s (SAM) growth and expansion into international markets. In this position, you will develop and maintain a strategic growth plan to deliver access to U.S. products to international investors, while also developing and executing on product development and distribution plans overseas. Initially, a significant deliverable for this role will be to develop and implement an impactful proprietary UCITS offering.
You will be responsible for building new partnerships and strengthening existing relationships around the globe with institutional clients, both prospective and existing, while seeking out new opportunities for asset growth for Schwab’s proprietary products overseas. Key external partners may include, but are not limited to, index providers, asset managers, pension funds, distribution agents, white-label vendors and media.
The role will require strong collaboration skills to manage communication and planning from partners across the entire Schwab organization, including Operations, Product Management, Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Technology, Equity Research, Compliance, Strategy, and Legal.
You will serve as Schwab Asset Management’s primary point of contact to the Schwab International Broker/Dealer Platform team. Additionally, you will work closely with the Schwab satellite offices based in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai to coordinate business planning and distribution of any new Schwab products for the international markets.
The role requires deep knowledge and understanding of international markets and products across the spectrum of strategies including equities, fixed income, private assets, across active and passive investment vehicles. A robust understanding of the various product types from ETFs to mutual funds, and separately managed accounts (SMAs). You will be the subject matter expert for global investment and product trends across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.
This role may require some international travel including board participation in Ireland.
What you have
- Experience: 15+ years in asset management, focusing on product development, strategy, and management. Extensive asset management experience required, with experience with UCITS products.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multi-workstream projects, tight regulatory deadlines, and cross-functional stakeholders. Strong product strategy, roadmap development, and execution skills in fast-paced, high-visibility environments. Ability to synthesize client needs, regulatory constraints, and business priorities into clear product and delivery decisions.
- Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively to executive, client, and industry audiences.
- Leadership: Exceptional cross-cultural communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.
- Analytical: Demonstrated ability to evaluate market opportunities and make data-driven product recommendations.
