The Broker-Dealer Modernization team is leading a multi-year transformation of Schwab's core brokerage platform and operational ecosystem. Working across Operations, Technology, enterprise partners, and strategic vendors, you'll help design the future of brokerage operations through modern processes, scalable operating models, improved automation, and more resilient ways of working that support Schwab's long-term growth.
What You'll Do
As Director, Business Process Transformation & Operating Model, you will help shape how future-state brokerage capabilities are translated into practical, sustainable operational outcomes. You will partner across Operations, Technology, and enterprise teams to design operating models, streamline processes, and prepare the organization for large-scale transformation.
This role requires a strategic leader who can navigate complexity, connect business strategy to execution, and create alignment across diverse stakeholders. You'll help evaluate future-state solutions, identify operational impacts, and drive decisions that improve efficiency, controls, employee experiences, and client outcomes.
Initially, this role will operate as a senior individual contributor leading through influence and strong partnerships. As modernization efforts evolve, you'll have the opportunity to build and lead a team supporting key transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner across Operations, Technology, and enterprise stakeholders to design future-state operating models and business processes.
- Lead process transformation efforts that simplify workflows, improve scalability, strengthen controls, and enhance operational resiliency.
- Evaluate future-state capabilities and help determine their impact on processes, operating models, employee experiences, and service delivery.
- Facilitate decision-making by identifying tradeoffs, clarifying requirements, and aligning stakeholders around strategic priorities.
- Translate complex operational processes and legacy tooling into streamlined future-state workflows, procedures, and controls.
- Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and impacts across interconnected modernization initiatives.
- Support organizational readiness by partnering on process adoption, control frameworks, communications, training, and implementation planning.
- Develop operating roadmaps that align modernization priorities with broader Operations and enterprise initiatives.
- Communicate recommendations, risks, decisions, and program progress to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Help define and build the organizational capability and team structure needed to support future transformation objectives.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in brokerage operations, business process transformation, operating model design, operational excellence, change leadership, product operations, or related disciplines.
- Experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives within complex, matrixed organizations.
- Knowledge of broker-dealer operations, financial services processing, operational controls, service delivery models, or related business and technology ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into executable operational outcomes.
- Proven experience evaluating alternatives, facilitating decisions, and influencing stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale platform modernization, operating model transformation, or enterprise change initiatives.
- Experience improving employee and representative workflows that intersect with operational platforms and technologies.
- Knowledge of process mining, workflow technologies, intelligent automation, analytics, or emerging technologies.
- Experience leading organizational readiness, process adoption, controls, training, or communications efforts.
- Experience establishing governance frameworks, operating cadences, performance measures, or roadmap transparency.
- Experience building and leading teams through periods of transformation and growth.
- Advanced degree or relevant process, change management, risk, product, or program management certification.
