Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

The Managed Investing Operations (MIO) team performs a variety of functions supporting both sides of Schwab’s business, Advisor Services and Investor Services. We service Registered Investment Advisors, third-party and proprietary Money Managers across the country who are enrolled in Schwab’s Managed Account products and the Schwab Private Client offer. MIO partners with a number of internal business partners who share a common goal of serving our clients with the highest level of satisfaction.

In MIO, you will receive an extensive training program to prepare you for success in your new role. We realize that hard work deserves reward and promote a culture of employee recognition, advancement, and growth opportunities.

In this role, you will be asked to switch gears throughout the day to support critical cut-off times, high-volume spikes, complex operational needs, escalations, and project opportunities that strengthen the business. A Senior Specialist is expected to demonstrate all Specialist expectations while operating with a higher level of independence, judgment, influence, and ownership. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting peers, partnering with leaders and business partners, and resolving complex or time-sensitive operational issues. Functions can vary, but key Senior Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Execute core Specialist responsibilities while also supporting complex work, escalated matters, exception requests, and time-sensitive issues with sound judgment and appropriate transparency.
  • Enroll and un-enroll retail accounts into advised and managed products accurately and timely, including scenarios that require broader research, risk evaluation, or business partner coordination.
  • Process account updates, money movement-related requests, Power of Attorney changes, and other managed account operational requests while helping clarify procedure interpretation when scenarios fall outside normal processing patterns.
  • Identify cases where single ownership applies and help ensure urgent or high-risk matters are handled timely, accurately, and with appropriate management or team lead updates.
  • Serve as a senior resource for peers and business partners by answering complex questions, coaching through escalations, and reinforcing procedure adherence without creating dependency.
  • Identify trends, root causes, recurring defects, process gaps, or workflow barriers that may impact quality, efficiency, risk, client experience, or business partner experience.
  • Recommend practical alternatives or solutions when issues are complex or unclear and help connect work outcomes to broader department or business partner impact.
  • Tailor communication based on audience, complexity, and urgency while keeping peers, leaders, and business partners informed of trends, escalations, opportunities, and successes.
  • Maintain proficiency across assigned queues, functions, or specialty areas and demonstrate flexibility in moving between work types or priorities while maintaining quality and service expectations.
  • Support training, onboarding, mentoring, process improvement conversations, and change adoption across the team when assigned or when business needs require.
