Join the Order Execution & Management team and play a pivotal role in leading the evolution of Schwab's Trading Connectivity Platform, a mission-critical system that supports high-volume, low-latency electronic trading. This role combines hands-on technical leadership, strategic partnership with business and product stakeholders, and ownership of one of the firm's most critical FIX-based technology platforms. As a senior engineering leader, you will influence architecture, drive platform reliability and scalability initiatives, and mentor engineering talent while delivering solutions that directly impact client and business outcomes. ▪ Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, resilient, and high-performance Trading Connectivity Platform solutions, including onboarding new trading venues and enhancing existing FIX-based integrations.
▪ Serve as the technical leader and subject matter expert for the FIX Platform, driving platform availability, performance, stability, and operational excellence through proactive monitoring, issue resolution, and root cause analysis.
▪ Partner closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and cross-functional engineering teams to define technical strategy, align priorities, and deliver business capabilities.
- Mentor and guide engineers by promoting engineering best practices, secure software development, code quality, architectural standards, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

▪ 7+ years of enterprise application development experience
▪ 6+ years of experience developing and supporting Trading Connectivity Platform solutions in a high-volume electronic trading environment
▪ 5+ years of hands-on experience with the FIX Protocol, including FIX session management, message flows, onboarding, certification, and troubleshooting
▪ 5+ years of experience integrating with external trading venues, brokers, market centers, or financial market infrastructure using FIX-based connectivity
▪ Experience integrating with external trading venues, brokers, exchanges, or market centers using FIX-based connectivity
▪ Proven experience serving as a Technical Lead, Development Lead, or Subject Matter Expert for mission-critical trading platforms
▪ Experience supporting production trading systems, including incident management, root cause analysis, deployment validation, and operational support
▪ Strong experience collaborating with Product Owners, business stakeholders, QA teams, and cross-functional engineering organizations throughout the software development lifecycle
▪ Experience implementing secure software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and quality engineering processes
▪ 2+ years of experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar) to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing, or troubleshooting
▪ Experience designing, developing, or integrating AI-powered applications, intelligent automation solutions, or agent-based workflows within enterprise software platforms

Preferred Qualifications

▪ Deep expertise in electronic trading workflows, order lifecycle management, execution management, and trading venue connectivity
▪ Experience onboarding trading venues and implementing FIX mappings for order, execution, allocation, and post-trade workflows
▪ Provides technical thought leadership and independently drives strategic initiatives that improve platform capabilities, operational outcomes, and engineering effectiveness
▪ Establishes effective communication and collaboration processes across business, product, operations, and engineering teams
▪ Enables stakeholders to make informed decisions that align technology investments, priorities, and architectural direction with business goals
▪ Influences best practices and long-term planning efforts to prepare teams for emerging opportunities, challenges, and evolving technologies, including AI and intelligent automation
▪ Champions innovative solutions, automation, AI-enabled capabilities, and process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, reliability, and developer productivity
▪ Influences technical and operational decisions that drive functional success and continuous improvement
