We are seeking a Software Development and Engineering Lead to join our Container Platform Capabilities team as we continue our journey to provide Schwab application developers and engineers with technologies, services, tools, middleware, and guidance to enable and streamline application development on our platforms.  This senior individual contributor (IC) role is responsible for shaping, guiding, and sustaining shared platforms, systems, and developer ecosystems. The role bridges strategic technical direction and hands on execution, operating across teams to ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.

In this role, you will be:
•          Translate high level architectural strategy into practical, implementable technical designs
•          Evaluate design tradeoffs and system constraints, documenting decisions to guide downstream teams
•          Design and evolve platform capabilities, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines that enable application teams to utilize the Schwab container platforms
•          Engage directly in production adjacent and risk related technical investigations, including vulnerability management, system behavior analysis, and internal audit
•          Collaborate with engineers, architects, product partners, and platform stakeholders across organizational boundaries
•          Facilitate shared understanding through technical artifacts, design reviews, and knowledge transfer documentation
•          Create and maintain durable technical documentation that improves onboarding, alignment, and platform adoption

Required Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of DevOps processes
• Expert knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Expert knowledge of GitOps framework
• Expert knowledge of security standards and practices
• Above Average knowledge of Docker, Docker Registries (Harbor), and Kubernetes
• Above Average understanding of Cloud architecture principles and best practices
• Above Average knowledge of Containers Secure Supply Chain (CSSC) framework
• Above Average knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions)
• Above Average Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or PCF
• Above Average knowledge of Networking concepts (Load Balancing, DNS, etc.)
• Above Average knowledge with IaC (Terraform)
• Above Average knowledge of scripting languages including Bash and Python
• Above Average knowledge with configuration management tools, preferably Salt

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (Java, .NET)
• Above Average knowledge with YAML/JSON

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
