The International Client Development Team is a dedicated and specialized team within International Services focused on engaging new and prospective international clients, identifying client needs, introducing Schwab’s products and services, and creating high-quality referral opportunities for the International Branch. As one of the first connections many clients have with Schwab, this team plays a critical role in delivering a strong first impression, helping clients navigate Schwab’s capabilities, and supporting International’s asset growth and client development strategy.
As Team Manager of this specialized group, you will help lead, develop, and grow top talent within the International Client Development Team. Coaching, performance management, business development leadership, subject matter expertise, and risk oversight are core components of this role. You will be responsible for creating a strong team environment, driving consistent execution of the EDGE model, and helping professionals identify client goals, position appropriate solutions where available, and make effective hand-offs to International Branch Financial Consultants. This role requires strong partnership across International Client Services, International Branch, Risk, Supervision, and Client Experience teams to support a cohesive experience for new and prospective international clients.
In this role, you will be accountable for helping the team deliver measurable outcomes tied to client engagement, referral quality, conversion activity, funding support, and employee development. You will also serve as an escalation point for complex client situations and help ensure professionals follow applicable policies, procedures, jurisdictional requirements, and supervisory expectations while delivering Through Clients’ Eyes service.
What you have
Required minimum skills and qualifications are:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years’ experience in financial services sales, including a strong understanding of U.S. markets, economic indicators, brokerage products, and the international client environment
- 5+ years of leadership support or people leadership experience, including experience coaching, developing, and recognizing employees
- Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) are required
- Series 9/10 or 24/4 are required or must be obtained through a condition of employment, as applicable
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team focused on client relationship building, proactive outreach, business development, and needs-based conversations
- Strong knowledge of Schwab’s products and services, including the ability to coach professionals on appropriate positioning, referral quality, and hand-offs to International Branch partners
- Knowledge of international client rules, jurisdictional governance, product availability, and the nuances of supporting non-U.S. customers
- Sound supervisory judgment with the ability to identify risk, coach to policy and procedure adherence, and escalate issues appropriately
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships across International Client Services, International Branch, Risk, Supervision, Client Experience, and other business partners
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish language proficiency is preferred
