Advisor Services is the leading provider of custodial, trading, technology, and practice management to registered independent advisory firms. Advisor Services Alternative Investment Services is an escalation team that promotes client loyalty by providing high quality subject matter expertise to our clients and internal business partners.  The team educates and partners with clients, prospects, and internal business partners on matters relating to regulation, legislation, exemptions, filings and Schwab’s Alternative Investment process, service, and policy.

In this role you will:

  • Join a team of 40-45 representatives located across multiple sites.
  • Be responsible to assist the Sr. Team Manager in leading a team of 12-15 client-facing representatives who serve as the central point of contact for alternative investments, supporting complex, high net worth client/advisor relationships by researching, understanding and responding to issues relating to Alternative Investments: finding flexible solutions, managing and resolving problems and high-risk issues in a timely and effective manner while providing exceptional client service.
  • Assist with day-to-day team management responsibilities including managing workflows, risk supervision, metrics, reporting, resolving issues, delivering business results and assisting other sites as needed
  • Set clear expectations and consistently provide information, resources, feedback, coaching and recognition that helps employees improve their performance and their engagement.
  • Assess and resolve escalated client issues, helping both IAs and internal partners navigate Schwab Alternative Investments
  • Develop team members through coaching, career development mentoring, and motivational techniques.
  • Continue to strengthen your team’s Alternative Investment expertise.
  • Effectively recognizing strategic business opportunities and seizing them.
  • Working collaboratively with other managers and leadership in cross departmental projects and initiatives
  • Contribute to a collaborative, engaged, and supportive team culture.

What you have


To ensure that we fulfill our promise of " challenging the status quo " this role has specific qualifications that successful should have.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Series 7, 63 or 66, 9 & 10 licenses required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations or client service role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to condense policies and concepts into clear, concise language
  • Problem resolution skills as well as effective collaboration across departments to resolve issues, and the ability to build a consensus and persuade others in a matrixed organization
  • Exercise business judgment including the ability to identify business risks and articulate those risks to business partners and all levels of management
  • The ability to embrace change and innovation
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent time and resource management skills  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience of Alternative Investments (types, structures, and associated documentation).
  • The ability to embrace change and innovation.
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Ability to lead and influence others

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
