The Senior and Vulnerable Investor (SVI) Investigations team is part of Fraud Risk
Management and is dedicated to safeguarding senior clients and the firm from financial
risks. Their responsibilities involve investigating cases of suspected elder financial
exploitation and addressing issues that impact seniors’ ability to manage their finances.
This includes asset protection, loss recovery, and reporting suspicious activities to the
appropriate authorities. Additionally, the team collaborates with firm staff, clients, and
their families to mitigate future risks.
The SVI Investigations Digital Assets Senior Manager handles complex investigations
related to potential elder financial exploitation or diminished financial capacity, with
particular emphasis on digital asset activity. This individual will oversee ongoing
investigations, promote process improvements, advance cryptocurrency education,
enhance cryptocurrency investigative methods, and provide foundational training on
digital assets to support FRM’s strategic goals. While this is an individual contributor
role, leadership is expected through expertise in digital assets, delivering colleague
training, assisting with workload management, contributing to process enhancements,
and building partnerships within and outside the organization.
The Digital Assets Senior Manager will report to the SVI Investigations Senior Team
Manager (PL) and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Investigate escalated cases for suspicious activity by using digital asset and DeFi
expertise and apply advanced cryptocurrency and fraud investigation methods
like analyzing complex protocols, privacy tools, scams, and transaction risks.
These techniques are also leveraged to detect and address instances of elder
financial exploitation within digital asset environments. - Investigate a variety of cases involving elder financial exploitation or diminished
financial capacity, including interviewing clients, authorized parties, and other
stakeholders, placing transaction holds as required, and seeking recovery of
assets. - Conduct risk-related research, maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends
and red flags, and demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. - Assist in updating job aids and procedure documents, and provide regular
updates to management on cases, threats, trends, and projects, including
cryptocurrency related items. - File Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and other required State Agency
reporting, collaborate with APS agencies, state regulators, and law enforcement
to advance investigations and assist clients. - Provide education to clients, their families, and Firm staff about ways to reduce
Cryptocurrency and SVI risk, act as a subject matter expert for cryptocurrency
products and fraud patterns, and find opportunities to lower risks by working with
partners and industry colleagues. - Work closely with frontline business teams, fraud operations groups, corporate
risk associates, legal, compliance, and other stakeholders to address and lessen
future fraud risks, including those related to digital asset activities. - Provide informal leadership through coaching, guidance, and subject
matter expertise to investigators handling complex, or digital asset–related fraud
scenarios.
What you have

Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of experience in elder financial exploitation and related fraud
investigations, as well as roles involving trading and investment-related activities
• Knowledge of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, and decentralized
finance (DEXs, DApps, bridging, swapping, staking, lending)
• Understanding of crypto fraud investigations (e.g., peel chains, mixers, privacy
wallets, “Pig Butchering” scams, romance scams, DeFi obfuscation, address
poisoning, crypto dust)
• Experience collaborating with external financial institutions, law enforcement,
APS agencies, state securities regulators, or industry partners for fund recovery
and investigative research
• Passion for client service and experience working directly with clients
• Excellent verbal, written, and analytical communication skills
• Experience preparing and filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) and State
Agency Reports in accordance with regulatory standards
• Knowledge of and experience using internal fraud investigation tools
• Strong understanding of fraud schemes, scams, tactics, and methodologies
across banking and brokerage products.
• Proven decision-making and leadership skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking abilities, capable of
performing well in high-pressure situations, adapting quickly, maintaining motivation during routine tasks, working independently, adhering to tight
deadlines, and organizing time efficiently
• Knowledge of FINRA Rule 2165 and related state securities laws, as well as
familiarity with evolving digital asset regulations and compliance requirements in
the U.S. and internationally
Preferred Qualifications: Note: Candidates may not have experience in all the areas
listed below but should be able to demonstrate transferable skills and a proven ability to
learn new ones.
• FINRA Series 7/63, 9/10 licensing and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
experience
• Certifications and/or education in fraud investigations, financial crimes, or
blockchain analytics.
• Experience or exposure to fraud risks involving digital assets, cryptocurrencies,
blockchain-based transactions, or emerging payment technologies across
brokerage and bank products
• Demonstrated transferable skills and ability to learn new areas
• Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations on complex subjects to diverse
audiences.
