Schwab is recruiting a driven, results-oriented Technical Software lead who shares our passion for technology, innovation and excellence. We are aiming to rearchitect and rebuilding our core enterprise software platform to support our rapidly growing and evolving business. The technical lead engineer will be a hands-on lead developer that excels in a dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment and is passionate about developing high quality, high performance, and scalable software. Will be responsible for individual coding contributions in addition to their team lead responsibilities. The candidate will work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases. 

This position will be part of Advisor Services Digital Onboarding domain at Schwab, and we will focus on driving client-centricity, reducing time to market & increasing efficiency. What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Solution Architects and Platform Architects to ensure implementations meet the solution architecture and design. 
  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models. Understand, advocate and augment the platform principles, guidelines and standards. 
  • Prototype, validate and create specific application solutions for business. 
  • Lead team in execution of development pipeline and delivery of the organization’s software products to QA, and ultimately to Production. 
  • Interface with product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, QA and Technology Operations to ensure high quality delivery of software projects on time and budget. 
  • Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans. 
  • Create artifacts for each project such as Software Architecture documentation, Technical Use Cases, and Code Review Packages. 
  • Meet periodically with developers to review and improve Operational efficiency, Observability, code quality, requirements specification and design methodologies. 
  • Utilize automated software test tools and frameworks such as test-driven development to achieve software quality standards 
  • Drive engineering best practices and DORA metrics including but not limited to CI/CD, Deployment frequencies, Time to recovery, Change failure rate etc. 
  • Drive API first mindset and API as a product-based approach with team(s) 
  • Meet periodically with developers to review and improve Operational efficiency, Observability, code quality, and design methodologies including but not limited to stuff like Resiliency, Scalability, extensibility, robustness etc. 
  • Superior intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills to explore what problems need to be solved, identify and analyze key insights, and find creative solutions 
  • Superior listening skills and ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Provide hands-on technical coding and mentoring 

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or related practical experience 
  • 15+ years of solid experience in C#/.NET and Application development. 
  • Strong experience designing and implementing REST based Web Service API(s) in a transaction processing environment. 
  • Expert in object-oriented design, SOA, design patterns, development, implementation and maintenance. 
  • Exceptional experience in building enterprise scale web solutions based upon n-tier architecture using open-source technologies (Angular / React), Microsoft Web API, and SQL / No-SQL Databases. 
  • Working knowledge of cloud frameworks & design patterns such as Micro-services, Micro-UI, 12-factor design, OOD etc. 
  • Experience building cloud-ready applications (AWS, Azure, GCF, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, or similar cloud infrastructure) 
  • Good understanding of database concepts and experience with either SQL or NoSQL solutions. (e.g. SQL, Oracle, MongoDB or Hadoop) 
  • Responsive Design and Single Page Applications (SPA) Application performance tuning and capacity planning 
  • Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards, Guidelines and SOLID principles 
  • You should be comfortable in a fast-paced customer focused environment that continually embraces the latest technologies and techniques. 
  • Thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures. 
  • Self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems 
  • Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering 

 Preferred: 

  • Experience with distributed multi-tier applications, Angular, C#, PCF, NO SQL databases, and SQL is preferred 
  • Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and Guidelines 
  • Independently plans own work and are accountable to meet schedules and deliverables 
  • Experience providing guidance, direction, and feedback to other technical staff to meet agreed upon objectives. 
  • Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various level of technical and non-technical management.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
