The Strategy and Innovation enterprise supports the CEO and Executive Council with setting Schwab’s strategic direction and ensuring that Schwab is best positioned to help our clients achieve the strongest possible financial outcomes. We help prioritize short- and long-term efforts across enterprises, establish strategic plans, and facilitate execution through mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments, vendor partnerships, program management, and more. The Strategy and Innovation enterprise consists of the following functions: Corporate Strategy, Strategic Program Management, Corporate Development and Corporate Vendor Management.
What you’ll do:
The Senior Team Manager of Strategy and Innovation Business Unit Risk Management will report to the Managing Director of Supplier Management, leading a small team of risk personnel that support the broader Strategy and Innovation organization. Key responsibilities of this role include:
• High visibility, working to support the Chief Innovation Officer and heads of Strategy and Innovation on various deliverables
• Maintain, evolve, and execute on a sound control environment on various standard risks and controls, such as larger IAM program, Record Retention, Supervisory Procedures, and Business Continuity.
• Lead efforts to create standard first line risk reporting for the Strategy and Innovation Enterprise.
• Collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Create consistent/efficient processes that support the Strategy and Innovation Enterprise in driving improved risk, control, and governance processes.
• Work with business unit leaders to coordinate and manage all Firm and Enterprise risk initiatives and exercises, including building and maintaining Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA) and related processes.
• Partner with groups across 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defense to ensure compliance with policies and standards and share knowledge and best practices across the organization. Support business units within Strategy & Innovation on audits and exams and on issue sourcing and remediation.
• Provide advice and answers to queries on risk management topics and activities.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years’ work experience in operational risk, compliance, risk management, audit and/or supervision/control roles in a similar sector of the financial services industry and 3+ years of experience as a people leader.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to influence others through the development of strong working relationships across the organization.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials for C-suite executives
• Highly detailed oriented, organized, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment
• Experience running large programs, including oversight of complex initiatives spanning multiple groups and large organizations, across both business and technology initiatives and in alignment with established deadlines
• Ability to plan, delegate and oversee the overall work assignments and special projects within the team.
• Proficient PC skills including various platforms and applications. Highly proficient Microsoft Office skills required for data analysis and reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree required
