Advisor Services is the leading provider of custodial, trading, technology and practice management to registered independent advisory firms. We provide access to sophisticated wealth-management services that help advisors attract and retain affluent clients, as well as profitably grow, compete and succeed in their business efforts.

International and Advisor Risk Projects (IARP) is a function within the Advisor Services Business that seeks to create solutions for our clients’ most complex needs while successfully managing various types of risk for Schwab and our clients.  They provide the voice of the Registered Investment Advisor client into Schwab’s centralized functions as well as design the distribution and roll-out strategies for Advisor Risk, Mergers & Acquisitions, International, and including client-facing product or project launches.  This individual will lead projects for the Client and Advisor Risk Solutions which includes International, Advisor Risk, and Mergers & Acquisitions.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the growth of our business by supporting internal and external customers
  • Conduct business with respect for sensitivity to risk matters and ability to act in a diplomatic way and build strong partnerships with internal business units
  • Base business decisions on a sound analysis of risk and be able to develop proper mitigation when appropriate
  • Encourage appropriate escalation and resolution of risk issues
  • Acts in the best interest of customers, company, and shareholders.
  • Represent the needs of the Advisor Risk teams for processes and system improvements including workflow and technology enhancements with a vision for optimal solutions and a practicality and creativity that understands business needs and priorities.
  • Serve as advocate for Advisor Services and creating the optimal client experience for regulatory and other changes that impact international and complex account offerings. Includes ensuring Advisor Services employees and Advisors have proper information regarding requirements and procedures and meet regulatory, legal, and compliance guidelines.
  • Actively participate in and/or autonomously lead projects to completion in support of the team and the business, coordinate communication between Service/Sales/support teams.
  • Think creatively, solve problems, and develop recommendations that are data driven/fact-based and deliver results and have the flexibility and maturity to handle ambiguous situations.
  • Develop, write, and maintain procedures that are clear and concise often partnering with various stakeholders across the firm. 
  • Individuals with a bias for action and the ability to overcome obstacles to successfully execute on multiple projects simultaneously tend to perform well in the role.
  • Partner with internal departments such to evaluate risk and provide guidance to internal partners on complex situations

 To ensure that we fulfill our promise of " challenging the status quo " this role has specific qualifications that successful should have

 Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of financial services industry experience (brokerage preferred)
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the policies and procedures governing various departments within Advisor Services (AS)
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that include presentation (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint) and report writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to execute challenging conversations with internal partners and external clients
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple assignments and complete them within established deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and function in a professional manner under pressure
  • Ability to identify and solve complex issues in a team environment working with various levels of management and business partners
  • Ability to manage a project from inception to completion
  • Ability to work in an unpredictable and dynamic environment.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism and strong work ethic with high level of integrity and ethics
  • Licenses: Series 9/10 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Series 24 preferred

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
