This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

This highly visible people leadership role offers a significant opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to lead key areas of Schwab’s Bank and Treasury Accounting function. The Senior Manager will oversee the accounting, control, and reporting framework for investments, borrowings, loans, deposits, trust activities, and Regulation W considerations—critical areas of Schwab’s balance sheet, liquidity profile, regulatory compliance, and financial results. The role partners closely with leaders across Treasury, Banking, Trust, Accounting Policy, Regulatory Reporting, SEC Reporting, Legal, Compliance, Risk, technology teams, and external auditors. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful work at scale, influence important accounting and control outcomes, and build, coach, and develop a strong team supporting essential banking and treasury activities. What you’ll do:

  • Lead the accounting, control, and reporting activities for the Bank and Treasury portfolio, including investments, borrowings, loans, deposits, trust activities, and related balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Oversee the accounting and control environment for available-for-sale and held-to-maturity securities, including month-end close, valuation and income recognition, reconciliations, analysis, impairment considerations, and financial and regulatory reporting support.
  • Direct the accounting for secured and unsecured borrowings and other funding activities, including repurchase agreements, FHLB and Federal Reserve funding sources, interest expense, collateral, and related disclosures.
  • Oversee accounting for the Bank’s loan portfolios, including origination and purchase activity, interest and fee recognition, nonaccrual and charge-off activity, allowance-related accounting support, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Lead accounting and control activities for deposit products, including deposit balances, interest expense, product and system changes, reconciliations, and financial and regulatory reporting support.
  • Provide accounting leadership for trust activities, partnering with Trust, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Risk to evaluate new products and transactions, maintain appropriate controls, and support accurate reporting.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Treasury, and business stakeholders to identify and evaluate transactions with affiliates, support Regulation W considerations, and maintain accounting processes and controls that align with applicable requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Bank and Treasury Accounting team; maintain a strong SOX control environment; drive timely and accurate close execution; and lead system implementations, process improvements, and strategic initiatives across the function.

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility and significant experience in bank accounting, treasury accounting, investments, borrowings, loans, deposits, trust activities, or related financial services areas.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation, sound judgment, and demonstrated ability to apply complex accounting and regulatory requirements—including affiliate transaction and Regulation W considerations—in a practical, well-controlled operating environment.
  • Experience with operational accounting, treasury platforms, accounting systems, implementation efforts, testing, and project management in a high-volume environment.
