Your Opportunity

We believe that, when done right, investing liberates people to create their own destiny. We are driven by our purpose to champion every client’s goals with passion and integrity. We respect and appreciate the diversity of our employees, our clients, and the communities we serve. We challenge conventions strategically to create value for our clients, our firm and the world. We live and bring to life the concept of ‘own your tomorrow’ every day. We champion our employee strengths, guide their development, and invest in their long-term success. We hire optimistic, results-oriented, curious, innovative, and adaptable people with the desire to help our clients and one another succeed.

As a company, we were established by Chuck over 40 years ago to champion Main Street over Wall Street, and to help Americans transform themselves from earners to owners. Through advocacy and innovation, we work to make investing more affordable, accessible and understandable for all. As we enter our fifth decade, we are looking for talented, innovative and driven people who believe they can help themselves, and our clients, create a better future.

Our Opportunity:

The Corporate Controller's Department is responsible for all financial accounting and reporting for the Charles Schwab Corporation and subsidiaries. In collaboration with our business partners, we provide comprehensive financial information to our various constituencies including shareholders, management, regulatory and tax authorities. We play a key role advising our business partners on accounting and reporting implications of proposed business transactions, developments in GAAP, and applicable regulatory reporting regimes in which the firm operates.

This Senior Specialist plays a hands-on role in daily accounting operations, close activities, and cross‑functional projects that support our bank subsidiaries.  You’ll work closely with partners across Treasury, Finance, and Audit, contribute to monthly and quarterly closes, and build a strong foundation in GAAP, controls, and regulatory reporting — all while being part of a collaborative, supportive team that values development and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • Support daily and monthly accounting activities for bank subsidiaries, including journal entries and account analysis
  • Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain clear, audit‑ready documentation
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close deliverables used in financial reporting and regulatory reports
  • Execute internal controls to ensure a SOX compliant control environment
  • Partner with internal teams and external auditors
  • Document and enhance processes for greater efficiency
  • Assist with special projects

What you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with enterprise reporting systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and supporting documentation
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify issues and seek resolutions
  • Excellent time management and communication abilities
  • PeopleSoft Financials, public company, or financial services industry experience a plus
