Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. is looking for a “Manager, Software Development Engineer in Test” where you will be part of a team of experienced IT professionals, full stack developers and SDETs tasked with building applications and products to support Schwab’s trading platforms.  You will be working in a fast-paced and agile environment specializing in testing, test frameworks, test infrastructure, automation code, test tools and data. 

Key Responsibilities 

Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web services and applications, ensuring project alignment.
Write and run tests for performance, load, and browser compatibility across multiple apps, including manual testing as needed.
Analyze automation failures and defects, recommending solutions and process improvements.
Promote and implement shift-left testing, emphasizing code quality, security, and early-stage automation.
Work with scrum teams to define criteria, clarify requirements, identify gaps, and coordinate plans.
Use tools like Bitbucket, Jira, Zephyr, Bamboo, GitHub, Bruno, Grafana, and Splunk for source control, Agile workflows, and test management.
Track and report automation metrics and quality to stakeholders.
Document frameworks, test cases, and best practices for team use.
Mentor junior SDETs and QA members, encouraging continuous improvement and collaboration.
Ensure all testing complies with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.

What you have


Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
5+ years of hands-on application development and/or test automation framework experience in an Agile development environment.
Must have good understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns and data structures.
Familiarity with Agile/Lean development and testing practices, including Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
Experience with Options trading domain, and trading technologies and concepts desired.
Experience with SQL Server or MongoDB
Experience with QA practices (black box testing, risk-based testing, system testing, regression testing, exploratory testing)
Familiarity with web service virtualization, data virtualization and test data management
Passion for building solutions through automation, driven by innovation and commitment to lifelong learning
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Experience with source control and Agile Tools (Bitbucket, Jira, Zephyr, Bamboo, GIT)
Familiarity with web services standards and utilizing related testing tools such as SOAPUI, Postman, Bruno, Fiddler
Familiarity with troubleshooting Production issues through analysis of logs (Splunk), dashboards and metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

Financial Domain: Experienced in options trading and financial services.
Data Governance: Proficient in automating data quality, governance, and pipeline lineage.
Engineering Mindset: Applies root cause analysis, unit testing, and scalable design.
Autonomy: Identifies and resolves platform gaps proactively.
