In Schwab International Services, we work to bring the best of Schwab to clients around the world.
Schwab International is a fast-growing business within Investor Services serving clients living outside the U.S., supports domestic clients in languages other than English, and manages the company’s non-U.S. dollar products and services. In addition to driving retail growth, the team supports Advisor Services and Workplace to help advance their growth objectives.
The Director, Business Strategy reports to the Head of International Services and serves on the International Services Leadership Team. This role is a key strategic advisor to senior leadership, shaping priorities, driving enterprise alignment, and accelerating execution against the business’s growth agenda across International Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executive Support & Strategic Advising: Serve as a trusted advisor to the Head of International Services, helping shape strategy, set priorities, and drive decision-making. Partner closely with International Services leadership and key enterprise functions, including Finance, Corporate Affairs, HR, and Real Estate, to advance strategic objectives.
- Leadership Optimization: Drive the operating rhythm and priorities of the Head of International Services to maximize executive effectiveness, organizational focus, and leadership engagement, including support for SIFMA and SIFMA Foundation board-related work.
- Strategic Narratives & Executive Alignment: Shape the strategic narrative for executive leadership, the Board, and key stakeholders. Translate complex business issues into clear, compelling messaging driving alignment and supporting enterprise decision-making.
- Business and Investment Planning: Partner with International Services leadership, Enterprise Finance, and key business partners to shape business and investment plans, inform prioritization, and align resources to strategic goals.
- Operational Leadership: Help lead the business’s operating cadence by driving cross-functional alignment, strengthening execution, and ensuring strategic initiatives advance in line with enterprise priorities.
- Cross-International Initiatives and Change Management: Lead coordination of complex, cross-functional initiatives to improve transparency, accountability, and execution across International Services and the broader enterprise.
- Communication & Influence: Develop executive communications and briefings distilling complex issues, surface key insights, and support informed decision-making.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in business strategy, chief of staff, or similar roles supporting executive teams required; consulting experience preferred.
- Proven ability to build relationships, influence across all levels, and apply strong strategic judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- May require international travel
