Become a member of the BOET OCIO team in Schwab Technology Services as a Sr IT Program Manager (PL) leading a new team responsible for Training and Instructional Design. The role is a People Leader accountable for enterprise training strategy and instructional design delivery within STS, with visibility to senior leadership.
The team owns design, delivery, quality, and evolution of learning content across modalities (eLearning, video, classroom).
Responsibilities
Set and Own the Enterprise Training Vision
- Establish and communicate a clear training and instructional design strategy aligned to STS priorities and enterprise programs.
- Translate enterprise change initiatives into cohesive learning journeys, not isolated courses.
- Act as executive storyteller for learning—articulating why training matters and how it enables business outcomes.
Lead and Develop the Instructional Design Team
- Directly manage and mentor instructional designers, setting expectations for:
- Learning design quality
- Use of adult learning principles
- Accessibility (WCAG compliance)
- Create a skills‑development roadmap for designers (e.g., video, virtual facilitation, data‑informed design).
- Foster a psychologically safe, experimentation‑friendly team culture.
- Collaborate effectively within and across teams. Promote team development by participating in team activities.
- Align individual efforts to the organization’s mission, vision, values.
Act as Quality Owner for Learning Design & Delivery
- Establish and enforce learning design standards:
- Storyboards, prototypes, outlines
- Consistent learner experience across modalities
- Personally review or spot‑check high‑impact content (flagship programs, leadership‑visible initiatives).
- Ensure all learning meets accessibility, usability, and engagement standards.
Oversee Learning Modalities with Emphasis on Video & Virtual Delivery
- Define when and how to leverage:
- eLearning
- Video‑based learning
- Virtual instructor‑led training
- Classroom experiences
- Champion modern, scalable delivery methods aligned to enterprise reach and cost effectiveness.
Use Data to Improve Learning Effectiveness
- Define a small set of meaningful learning metrics (adoption, satisfaction, completion, impact signals).
- Partner with analysts or leverage existing tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to visualize trends.
- Use insights to continuously refine content and strategy—not to over‑optimize.
Vendor & Platform Partnership
- Provide learning expertise input into vendor selection and contract discussions (e.g., learning platforms).
- Ensure tools like Pluralsight, Articulate or Camtasia are used intentionally, not passively.
- Partner with procurement rather than fully owning negotiations.
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years’ experience in Financial Services
- 8+ years’ experience in Instructional Design
- Experience leading, coaching and/or mentoring junior designers in support of delivery.
- Experience delivering training strategies in support of enterprise programs using Camtasia, Articulate Storyline 360/Articulate Rise and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
- 12+ years of program management and/or change management experience. Additional experience with consulting strategy or internal strategy a bonus.
- Contract negotiation skills with learning and design platform vendors including Pluralsight.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing the Pluralsight tool including building learning pathways and custom reporting.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing Microsoft 365 CoPilot in support of training delivery.
- Experience in and passion for learning design.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with stakeholders
- Data collection and analysis/visualization experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated success supporting delivery for concurrent projects
- Confidence dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
- High Proficiency with MS Office Products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
- The ideal candidate will have participated in the Aspiring Leader Program within Schwab
