Role Overview
Charles Schwab’s Retail Digital – International team supports digital experiences for non-U.S.-based clients who seek to trade and custody assets in the United States. The team helps ensure these experiences are engaging and aligned with applicable Schwab policies and standards across web and mobile retail platforms.
This role is focused on process and program management for projects that impact Digital for the International business. The Sr Product Manager will coordinate work across Digital Retail and partner organizations, translate broad business requests into defined business requirements, and help teams understand and navigate cross-functional impacts and dependencies. Success will be defined by the ability to align stakeholders, navigate International initiatives through the Digital Retail PDLC process, and deliver client-facing features and enhancements across web and mobile experiences.
This role will not directly manage or provide ongoing product management support for a Scrum team. Participation in Agile ceremonies and use of Jira and Rally may be required from time to time to support planning, coordination, and delivery.
Key Functions
The Sr Product Manager will serve as a client advocate and International digital experience partner. This individual will understand diverse client, account, and role needs; define clear digital requirements; and coordinate across Digital Retail to support scalable experiences. Success requires critical thinking across entire projects, strong program management, clear stakeholder communication, disciplined reporting, and the ability to operate credibly with senior leaders. The Sr Product Manager must be a client advocate, understand diverse client/account/role needs, clearly define digital experience requirements, and coordinate across the Digital Retail department to deliver experiences built for scale. The ability to quickly learn complex technical systems and think outside the box when problem solving is critical to meeting the dynamic demands of the International business.
What you’ll do:
- Build an in-depth understanding of how Schwab serves international clients seeking to trade and custody assets in the United States.
- Take broad business requests and translate them into clear, defined business requirements, including scope, dependencies, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Lead International projects through the Digital Retail intake and discovery processes and provide program management support through feature release.
- Think critically about projects as a whole and assess impacts across digital experiences, teams, systems, and partner organizations.
- Lead and support multiple cross-functional projects that vary in scope and complexity, maintaining plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and status reporting.
- Partner across Digital Retail and with service, technology, product, project management, marketing, operations, legal, compliance, and channel organizations to implement digital functionality.
- Develop clear presentations and status updates that drive prioritization, support strategic decision-making, and advance the evolution of the client experience.
- Help cultivate and execute a strategy that expands Schwab’s international digital capabilities and supports growth of the business segment.
- Use data and available analytics tools to identify insights.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and use Jira and Rally technology from time to time as needed to support coordination and delivery. You will deeply understand the backend architecture across digital experiences.
What you have:
- Strong program and process management skills, with experience coordinating multiple projects and deliverables with minimal direction.
- Expert listening skills and demonstrated ability to understand and refine the business intent behind stated requests.
- Ability to turn broad requests into defined business requirements and communicate them clearly to business and technology partners.
- Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills, including the ability to identify cross-team impacts, prioritize work, manage ambiguity, and negotiate practical compromises.
- Demonstrated stakeholder collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence, build consensus, and maintain strong relationships across multiple levels of a highly matrixed organization.
- Strong reporting and presentation skills, including executive presence and the ability to communicate concise, decision-oriented updates to senior leadership.
- Strong knowledge of digital experiences and the underlying technology, both current and emerging, with the ability to learn complex systems quickly.
- Experience working cross-functionally with technology, service, marketing, operations, legal, compliance, and product teams to design, develop, or launch complex digital experiences.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, with attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A client-centric focus that keeps client needs at the forefront of decisions and connects plans and actions to serving clients.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify key insights, apply them to the business, and develop compelling business cases.
- Comfort with ambiguity, curiosity, a can-do attitude, and the ability to learn quickly in a complex, dynamic environment.
- Experience with Agile methodologies. This role does not directly manage a Scrum team, but familiarity with Agile ceremonies and Jira and Rally is important.
- Experience with digital analytics; Adobe Analytics experience is preferred.
- Experience in financial services, with brokerage experience preferred, and an understanding of relevant financial-services regulations.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of digital product management, product ownership, program management, or closely related experience
- 5+ years of experience in a financial-services or fintech firm
- Demonstrated experience with program management, defining requirements, and executing strategic plans
Preferred Qualifications:
- Series 7 license preferred
