The DBA Manager - Systems Engineering role Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to serve as a technical leader responsible for the stability, performance, and availability of enterprise SQL Server platforms. This role requires deep hands-on expertise with high availability architectures, advanced performance tuning, and automation, along with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with application and infrastructure teams. The Senior DBA is expected to operate with minimal supervision and provide expert-level guidance in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior technical resource for the administration, support, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server database environments.
  • Design, implement, and support high availability solutions, including SQL Server Availability Groups and Listeners.
  • Lead and execute advanced query tuning and performance optimization, delivering significant and measurable improvements to database performance and reliability.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain PowerShell automation for monitoring, maintenance, and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, often under time constraints and high-pressure conditions.
  • Proactively identify risks, performance bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities within the database environment.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures to support long-term platform stability.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned systems while mentoring and collaborating with other DBA team members as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7–10 years of hands-on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, supporting production environments.
  • Proven experience designing and supporting SQL Server Availability Groups and Listeners in enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience with PowerShell for administrative automation and operational tooling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SQL performance tuning and query optimization, with a track record of resolving complex performance issues.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-moving, constantly changing, and high-pressure environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience producing clear and accurate technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical SQL Server platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions and provide guidance without direct authority.
  • Comfortable acting as a subject matter expert during incidents, reviews, and design discussions.
