The Retail Web Technology (RWT) organization builds and operates Schwab’s digital platforms that support critical client workflows and regulated financial services. These platforms require strong technical leadership to balance regulatory obligations, platform modernization, operational resilience, and evolving client experience expectations.
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to provide system‑level technical ownership, architectural leadership, and end‑to‑end accountability across a business‑critical application ecosystem. This role is intended for a system‑level engineer who operates beyond a single team or codebase, influences cross‑team direction, and ensures solutions are scalable, compliant, durable, and production‑ready.
As a Manager, Software Development & Engineering, you are accountable for the technical direction and delivery outcomes of complex, business‑critical applications. You operate beyond a single team or codebase, working closely with engineers, product partners, and QA to design and deliver scalable, compliant, and production‑ready solutions while driving modernization initiatives and sound architectural decisions. This role is focused on getting the right outcomes done, owning end‑to‑end delivery of key epics and OKRs, anticipating and mitigating risk, and ensuring solutions meet enterprise standards for resiliency, quality, and operational readiness. Through mentorship, design and code reviews, and cross‑team influence, you elevate engineering standards while listening with an open mind, valuing diverse perspectives, and communicating clearly and respectfully to drive alignment and shared ownership across teams.
