Sr. Manager, Software Development and Engineering Lead is a senior technical leader responsible for driving quality strategy, engineering excellence, release readiness, and production risk management across complex software systems and business domains. This role serves as a trusted advisor to Engineering, Product, Architecture, Operations, and executive stakeholders, ensuring that quality is designed, measured, and continuously improved throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).


The individual is recognized as an organizational subject matter expert in quality engineering, test strategy, release governance, production risk assessment, and system reliability. They influence engineering decisions across multiple teams, establish scalable quality practices, and lead efforts that improve delivery predictability, operational stability, and customer experience.

Define and drive the quality engineering strategy for thinkorswim Mobile platforms, ensuring scalable, risk-based validation approaches that support high-quality software delivery across iOS and Android ecosystems.

Serve as the quality authority for complex trading initiatives by providing leadership on test strategy, release readiness, production signoffs, and go/no-go decisions for business-critical releases.

Leverage deep expertise in thinkorswim Mobile architecture, trading workflows, and ecosystem integrations to identify quality risks, coverage gaps, and mitigation strategies across highly integrated systems.

Ensure reliable and resilient client experiences by leading quality efforts for real-time trading capabilities, including market data, order management, account management, and brokerage product workflows.

Drive innovation in quality engineering through adoption of automation, AI-assisted testing solutions, modern tooling, and engineering practices that improve testing efficiency, coverage, and delivery predictability.

Influence engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle, while mentoring others and championing engineering excellence across the organization.

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, Software Development, or related technical disciplines.
8+ years of experience working with native thinkorswim Mobile iOS and Android platforms with deeper understanding of platforms architecture, echo system integrations, development and delivery processes.
Extensive experience leading quality efforts for complex, customer-facing trading platforms supporting real-time market data, order management, account management, and trading workflows
Strong understanding of brokerage and financial services products, including equities, options, futures, forex, and digital assets, with the ability to evaluate business and client impact associated with software changes.
Extensive experience defining and implementing test strategies covering functional, integration, risk-based, end-to-end and regression testing
Experience serving as a key stakeholder in release readiness reviews, production signoffs, deployment decisions, risk assessments, and go/no-go recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Strong understanding of modern software development practices, Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and software delivery lifecycle management
•  Experience evaluating and adopting emerging technologies, AI-assisted testing solutions, automation tools, and quality engineering practices to improve test efficiency and effectiveness
•  Strong knowledge of distributed systems, cloud technologies, databases, APIs, and application monitoring solutions.
•  Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence strategic decisions across multiple engineering organizations
