As part of our Human Resources organization, you'll join a collaborative HR Shared Services team dedicated to delivering an exceptional employee experience through responsive, accurate, and compassionate support. Our team plays an important role in helping employees navigate some of life's most significant moments while ensuring compliance, consistency, and operational excellence across leave and accommodation programs. We partner closely with Benefits, Payroll, HR Business Partners, and external vendors to provide trusted guidance and support that enables employees and managers to move forward with confidence.
As a Senior Specialist, Leave of Absence, you will serve as a key resource for administering leave programs and resolving complex employee inquiries. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while balancing employee needs and business priorities. You'll investigate and resolve leave-related issues, maintain accurate records and documentation, support reporting and audit activities, and identify opportunities to enhance processes and service delivery. Your work will have a direct impact on employee well-being, operational efficiency, and Schwab's commitment to creating a positive and supportive workplace experience.
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience administering leave of absence programs and managing leave cases from initiation through resolution.
- Knowledge of leave and accommodation regulations, including FMLA and applicable state and local leave laws.
- Experience interpreting policies and applying regulatory requirements to ensure compliant leave administration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Experience partnering with employees, managers, HR teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve complex issues and deliver effective outcomes.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, customer service, and case management skills.
- Experience maintaining employee records, documentation, and reporting in a highly regulated environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting payroll processes related to leave administration.
- Experience using Workday or similar HR technology platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reporting, data analysis, and data validation.
- Experience within a large, complex organization or shared services environment.
- Demonstrated success improving processes, increasing operational efficiency, or enhancing service delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
