Schwab Advisor Services (AS) is the industry leader in providing custody, trading, technology, and practice management services to independent advisory firms. In Advisor Services, Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and their clients are at the center of everything we do. This includes the third-party platforms that enable RIAs to run their businesses effectively.

With the growing third-party technology landscape, Schwab Advisor Services is expanding the third-party relationship management (RM) team to support new and existing program participants. 

The candidate will support third-party vendors and Registered Investment Advisory firms seeking to integrate their technology platforms with Schwab Advisor Services data and workflows utilizing proprietary API’s, SFTP file transfers, Single Sign-On, and other channels offered through our third-party integration programs.

Our API program is an open architecture approach that offers secure, high-quality integration with many of the leading technologies that support an RIA’s practice. Using a variety of capabilities, our participants build customized integrations to help Advisors and their clients access Schwab Advisor Center capabilities across systems including AI platforms, client relationship management, financial planning, trading & rebalancing, and portfolio & risk management.

What You’ll Do

The successful Senior Manager candidate will provide relationship management support to 3rd party firms engaging with Schwab across a variety of integration programs.  This role will work collaboratively with not only the immediate team and the external parties it supports, but also across the broader Schwab organization. This role serves as the Schwab liaison to the many 3rd party technology vendors and advisors that we do business with and requires a broad and flexible skill set ranging across technical, organizational, strategic, tactical, and sales skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as primary point of contact and represent Schwab with an assigned set of 3rd party firms, owning responsibility for relationship outcomes
  • Assess incoming inquiries and monitor the fintech and technology landscape for potential outcomes and manage an ongoing candidate funnel to prioritize engagement opportunities
  • Educate candidates about the details of our API, MCP, sFTP, and single sign-sn integration options and recommendation best next steps.
  • Progress opportunities by leading candidates through our due diligence and contract negotiation processes and into desired Schwab programs and/or relationship models
  • Define and own strategic goals for candidates/participants and work creatively to influence relationships toward these goals
  • Ensure awareness and alignment with external firms between respective leadership teams, sales & relationship management organizations, support teams, operations, and technical teams
  • Create ongoing transparency around the relationships by regularly communicating to internal constituents on relationship status, areas of focus, risks, and opportunities
  • Hold internal and external teams accountable to project and engagement commitments with a goal of ensuring a positive experience for shared customers
  • Develop, execute, and lead proactive engagement opportunities to deepen relationships via ongoing interactions, recurring team calls, and planned face to face business meetings with participants
  • Create and/or improve upon existing practices and processes within the Relationship Management team
  • Build awareness of relationship value via participation in the creation of marketing promotions, press releases, and industry events presence
  • Support Schwab business by serving as 3rd party integration SME (subject matter expert) and competitive intelligence resource

What you have


  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and business planning skills
  • Strong communication & presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working cross functionally with partners in marketing, technical product management, client services, and sales, and be able to understand high-level technical terms 
  • Ability to navigate internal and external organizational structure, culture, and politics to negotiate win-win outcomes
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work independently, especially in a new initiative environment
  • 5+ years relationship management or technology relationship management experience
  • Comfortable and competent with contract terminology
  • Broad knowledge and familiarity with computer systems/database technology, professional services, business development, and contract/vendor negotiation
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: APIs, MCP servers, product management, project management, and financial services
