Senior Manager, Employee Relations

The Human Resources (HR) Employee Relations and HR Risk team seeks to champion workplace practices that elevate manager capabilities and employee experience resulting in an engaging, productive work environment and superior company performance.
The HR Employee Relations and HR Risk center of excellence is a team of trusted advisors dedicated to building leadership capabilities through core principles: Trust & Integrity, Collaboration, Authenticity, and Embracing diverse perspectives to ensure that every interaction makes a positive difference. Responsibilities include:
- Working with people leaders on corrective action and performance improvement activities, including coaching, written warnings, and terminations in accordance with the firm’s Corrective Action Philosophy.
- Conducting timely, thorough and objective workplace investigations into employee concerns regarding employment practices, including but not limited to allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Performing exit survey interviews and analysis.
- Partnering with extended HR Risk team in support of first line of defense initiatives.
- Educating leaders on ER topics, policies, conflict resolution, and performance management, both 1:1 and through training sessions.
- Providing HR Business Partners and business leaders with an organizational perspective on ER themes, issues, strategies, and changes to improve overall organizational efficiency.
- Assisting with the education and adherence to HR policies and procedures to maintain compliance with employment law.
- Working with legal counsel on lawsuit discovery and litigation preparation, serving as a company representative and testifying as needed.
- Ensuring all employee matters are handled with a consistent and disciplined approach that is aligned with Schwab’s vision and values.
- Serving as a resource to team members and assisting with case review.
- Collaborating effectively with other Human Resources functions.
- Thoroughly and completely documenting cases in the Service Now case management system.
- Creating and implementing solutions where analysis indicates there are issues in order to improve service and mitigate employment-related risk.
- Maintaining and providing input to current and proposed corporate policies: including drafting and revising HR policies and creating processes that align with our policies to ensure consistent understanding and execution.
- Act as a subject matter expert on HR policies, procedures, exceptions, best practices and performance management.
- Conduct acquisition and integration activities.
- Lead and support projects from an HR perspective for all business needs.

What you have
Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree required, advanced degree in Human Resources or JD preferred.
- 6+ years of Employee Relations or Human Resources Generalist experience including significant Employee Relations experience in a geographically dispersed organization and/or equivalent experience as a manager of people.
- Experience with drafting and revising corporate policies, procedures and/or employee handbooks.
- In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements regarding employee relations and employment law.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong influencing skills that achieve the desired business outcomes, especially in situations where there is no clear “ownership” of the issues.
- Ability to partner effectively with internal stakeholders including HRBPs, Internal Counsel, Training & Organizational Design, Talent Acquisition, Internal Audit, First Line Testing, 1RMO, Payroll, and Corporate Compliance/Security.
- Proficient in coaching by providing valuable perspective, guiding others’ thinking and helping others to fully develop their own capabilities.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations into EEO related matters and strong interview and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills: diagnosing root-cause of issues, identifying trends and providing clear recommendations/solutions.
- Experience in facilitating/delivering management training.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of financial services industry.
- Prefer Case Management Tracking systems experience.
- Prior experience utilizing artificial intelligence in Employee Relations work.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot.
