Charles Schwab’s Operational Services team is partnering with our Digital Assets team to expand our retail product offering to include spot crypto trading for retail clients. This new offer will complement an existing extensive range of brokerage and banking products, serving a critical role in maintaining Schwab’s place as a leading financial services firm, providing accessibility and award-winning education on cutting-edge products and services for retail clients.

Within Operational Services, the Crypto Operations team will support the operational requirements of the spot cryptocurrency offering, conducting oversight and execution activities related to new account enrollment, trading, transfers and money movements, reconciliations & corrections, and reporting.

As a key member of the Crypto Operations team, this individual contributor role is responsible for the day-to-day operational processes that enable our crypto offering. The Manager will work closely with internal partners and external clients to investigate and resolve issues, ensure timely and accurate transaction processing, and uphold operational controls. The Manager role will report to the Senior Manager Crypto Operations and will be responsible for the following:

  • Execute and support day-to-day operational processes for crypto related activities, including account onboarding, trading, transfers, deposits, withdrawals, reconciliations, settlement and others.[GW1] [BD2] 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., risk, technology, compliance, client service) to resolve operational issues and ensure seamless execution of crypto transactions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert resource on crypto operations processes, contributing insights to improve accuracy, efficiency, and risk management.
  • Monitor transaction flows and support investigations related to exceptions, risk alerts, or operational breaks, escalating where appropriate.
  • Improve client experience consistent with Schwab’s ‘through the client’s eyes’ strategy by iterating on enhancements to technology, service, and processes to optimize performance.
  • Stay informed about changes in the digital asset landscape and assess impacts on operational activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work non-standard hours as part of a 24/7 shift model, including evenings and weekends as business needs require.
  • 3+ years working in Operations, with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Account operations, Trade operations, Money settlement, Fraud monitoring, Reconciliation activities
  • Experience with Account Management Systems, Order Management Systems, Treasury or Money Management tools, Financial or Crypto Trading systems, and Case Management Tools

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong personal interest in digital assets and emerging financial technologies.
  • Prior experience with cryptocurrency operations or personal investing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL and basic programming/report creation skills is a plus.
  • Ability to navigate and apply operational controls related to fraud prevention, transaction investigations, and compliance checks.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently.
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with a sense of urgency and proactiveness.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and support ad-hoc tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Personally, and professionally aligned with Schwab’s vision and values.
