Your Opportunity

Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

The Internal Audit Department (IAD) of The Charles Schwab Corporation (CSC) provides independent and objective assessments to figure out whether all significant risks are identified and appropriately reported by management and risk functions to the Board and Executive Management, to evaluate whether risks are adequately controlled, and to challenge Executive Management to improve the effectiveness of governance processes, risk management, and internal controls.

The Professional Practices Group (PPG) within IAD provides the processes, training, and tools to support the audit teams’ adherence to standards and expectations of quality and consistency. PPG also provides its analysis of internal audit activities and results to the leadership team, regulators, and to CSC’s governance committees to support their performance of effective oversight. The Resource Management and Operations (RMO) team within PPG is seeking a Manager to design, maintain, and continuously improve internal and management reporting to support the monitoring and optimization of the department’s utilization of internal and co-sourced resources, partner with assigned enterprise audit teams to provide solutions to staffing challenges as conditions change, and monitor enterprise team and department-wide budget to actual hours to identify themes and trends and escalate as appropriate.

The Manager is an individual contributor role that reports to the PPG Managing Director. The PPG RMO team is a critical function within IAD that supports a continuously evolving department designed to meet the regulatory expectations of a large financial institution.

What you’ll do:
•    Synthesize and translate complex information into an easy to understand, effective format of high quality and accuracy that is both fit for purpose and audience appropriate.
•    Partner with audit teams to create, monitor, and update resource forecasts based on capacity to determine if all resources (i.e., internal personnel and co-sourced support) are being effectively utilized and all activities are supported; proactively identify potential problems, and propose staffing adjustments and other solutions to audit teams.
•    Reinforce IAD standards and expectations related to staffing, adhering to audit timelines and milestones, use of Subject Matter Resources, and efficiently managing budgets (hours and expenses) to drive department-wide discipline.
•    Monitor changes to the Audit Plan and update the resource management tool to reflect revisions to budgeted hours and shifts in timelines and identify corresponding implications to resources that may require adjustments to assignments.
•    Partner with third-party co-source providers to ensure adherence to contract terms and monitor for adherence to Service Level Agreements including evaluating proposed resources for Conflict of Interest and escalating performance issues.
•    Share draft deliverables with RMO teammates for feedback, as well as review draft deliverables produced by RMO teammates for feedback and guidance.
•    Build relationships and provide dynamic communication with key stakeholders through presentation of data, negotiating conflicts, and providing effective challenge of requests.

What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
