Director, SWA Business Strategy & Program Management

Schwab’s Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) organization offers industry-leading wealth management services to both retail and registered investment advisor (RIA) clients. The team is responsible for Schwab’s wealth management strategy, while delivering industry-leading experiences, through solutions like Schwab Wealth Advisory (SWA) and Schwab Advisor Network (SAN), along with a broad range of investment products and solutions, and wealth management specialists in the Wealth Strategies Group (WSG).
We are seeking a Director of Business Strategy to lead the program management control tower function of SWA Acceleration, a multi-year initiative for the WAS enterprise. Working directly with key leaders and cross-functional teams across our organization, this role will shape and translate strategy into coordinated execution, serving as the central coordination point for visibility, governance, prioritization, and escalation across the initiative’s workstreams.
The Director will report to the Managing Director of the SWA and WSG Offer Management Team (SWOT).
What you are good at / Key responsibilities:
- Act as the central hub for oversight, coordination, and performance tracking across workstreams
- Translate enterprise and business priorities into an integrated strategy, roadmap, and sequenced portfolio of work, clarifying outcomes, trade-offs, and decision points for senior leaders.
- Lead and coordinate multiple complex projects and workstreams simultaneously, balancing competing priorities, dependencies, resources, and timelines to maintain progress against strategic objectives.
- Organize and synthesize complex information for senior leaders, including clear agendas, decision materials, executive updates, action tracking, and follow-through on key commitments.
- Establish and/or maintain governance framework and reporting deliverables (status reports, dashboard, etc.) for leadership. Ability to quickly pivot as needs change/evolve
- Monitor initiative overall status, including interdependencies among workstreams, risks, and timing impacts. Work with stakeholders on resolution or escalate as needed to key leaders
- Work closely with workstream Offer leads, Product leads, PPM partners to maintain clear line of sight on workstreams
- Develop and/or refine initiative reporting on a biweekly, monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring clear transparency of progress, potential risks, and interdependencies that could impact outcomes
- Provide insights for resource planning, milestone tracking, change management and communications planning
- Create impactful executive presentations that articulate progress for internal audiences
What you have
- Minimum 10 years in program and/or product management, preferably in the financial services and/or wealth management industry
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and workstreams at any given time, including prioritization, tracking, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and executive-level organization.
- Proven offer management or strategy experience is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic recommendations, evaluate trade-offs, and convert direction from senior leaders into organized, actionable plans.
- Exceptional executive presence, emotional maturity, influencing and collaboration skills
- Strategic, critical thinker with strong business judgment and analytical skills
- Ability to develop and share a point of view, and create alignment across all levels of the enterprise
- Highly resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem solver who can thrive in a dynamic environment, solve issues as they arise, and drive progress in the face of ambiguity
- Strong acumen in financial services and/or wealth management
