Charles Schwab’s Workplace Services helps employers support employees’ financial well-being through market-leading workplace solutions—including retirement plan services, equity award administration, custody solutions, and brokerage and participant engagement capabilities—delivered with a strong focus on client service, innovation, and risk management. Within Workplace Services, Retirement Business Services focuses on supporting retirement solutions for small plans by partnering with advisors, third-party administrators (TPAs), and other strategic service providers.
Role summary: As a Director, Product Manager, Small Market Retirement, you will help shape and execute Schwab’s strategy to grow in the small-plan retirement market. You’ll work closely with financial advisors, TPAs, and outsourced vendors, and partner with internal teams across operations, compliance, marketing, sales, technology, and service. You will define goals and success measures, strengthen partner performance, and help establish pricing and revenue models that support scalable growth and a great client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement growth strategies to expand Schwab’s reach in the small retirement plan sector.
- Define, track, and report key objectives and success metrics for advisor-led distribution and partner performance.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with third-party administrators and outsourced vendors, aligning on shared goals, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
- Help establish revenue models that align with business strategy and market dynamics.
- Negotiate pricing agreements with partners and vendors, driving mutually beneficial terms and sustainable profitability.
- Provide leadership across the small-plan retirement lifecycle, including service, operations, compliance, marketing initiatives, sales enablement, and vendor management.
- Partner with advisors, third-party partners, and internal teams to deliver outstanding service and improve the end-to-end client and participant experience.
- Continuously assess partner/vendor performance, identifying opportunities to improve, simplify, and innovate.
- Stay informed on industry developments, regulatory changes, and competitive trends to guide strategy and enhance partnership value.
- Champion new product capabilities and distribution approaches tailored for small-plan clients and collaborative partners.
What you have
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 7+ years of experience supporting small-plan retirement solutions, with exposure to service/operations, compliance, marketing, sales, and vendor/partner management.
- Strong knowledge of retirement plan products, distribution models, and service delivery, including working with advisors, TPAs, and outsourced vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to drive growth and achieve business objectives through cross-functional collaboration and strategic partnerships.
- Experience developing revenue models and negotiating pricing and commercial agreements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence and coordinate advisor networks and partner relationships to maximize distribution opportunities.
Preferred:
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Series 7 and 24 preferred, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire as COE (Condition of Employment).
