Schwab’s Wealth Advisory Services (WAS) organization delivers industry-leading wealth management experiences, through solutions like Schwab Wealth Advisory (SWA) and Schwab Advisor Network (SAN), along with a team of dedicated wealth services specialists. Within WAS, the Strategy, Planning and Operations, and Data (SPOD) organization helps shape the business—defining strategic priorities, informing decisions through fact-based insights, and directing resources toward the highest-value opportunities.
We are looking for a Director of Business Strategy to lead our WAS planning and operations team and serve as Chief of Staff to the Head of the Wealth Advisory, Banking & Trust Services (WABT) enterprise. The director will also be a member of the WABT leadership team. This is an unparalleled opportunity to define and work on the business while gaining visibility among the firm’s senior leadership.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with the MD, Head of WABT to define and execute on the strategic agenda for the WABT leadership team, including team meetings, offsites and related activities
- Lead WAS enterprise and leadership team through strategic planning, objective setting, and portfolio prioritization exercises throughout the year
- Develop impactful executive presentations that articulate our vision, strategy, and progress for both internal and external audiences
- Identify opportunities to improve enterprise operations, enhance collaboration and effectiveness, and accelerate progress towards strategic priorities
- Track and synthesize enterprise reporting of WAS business results on a biweekly, monthly and quarterly basis
- Support employee engagement through the development and execution of effective enterprise forums and activities (e.g. all hands, leadership visits, etc.)
- Partner closely with key cross-functional partners to advance objectives, including Finance, Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, etc.
What you have
Required:
- Minimum 10+ years of total work experience, including 5+ years in business strategy, management consulting, or a related enterprise program offer management leadership role
- People management experience required
- In a Director level role currently
- Prior experience in wealth management, wealth advisory-based business strongly preferred
- Exceptional executive presence, emotional maturity, collaboration and influencing skills
- Strategic thinker with strong business judgment and analytical skills
- Ability to develop and share a point of view, and create alignment across all levels of the enterprise
- Highly resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem solver who can thrive in a dynamic environment, solve issues as they arise, drive progress in the face of ambiguity, and meet evolving business needs
- Ability to craft executive presentations for internal and external audiences that articulate our vision, strategy, and progress
- Proven people management skills, including proven ability to coach, develop and build a high-performing team
- Strong acumen in financial services and wealth management
