The Wealth & Asset Management Solutions (WAMS) team is part of Wealth Advisory, Banking & Trust (WABT) enterprise. The WAMS team also reports to and has responsibility for distribution of Schwab Asset Management (SAM) and Schwab Investment Platforms, Solutions and Strategy (SIPPS) products and solutions. The team is accountable for the distribution and support of proprietary, and certain third-party asset management, products and services to consultants and advisors, across multiple distribution channels. The team also supports the marketing efforts of these solutions, working closely with Offer Management, Product and Marketing teams.
What you will do:
The Director of Income Solutions for WAMS leads a team of seasoned professionals and leaders supporting Retail Financial and Wealth Consultants and their clients in meeting the clients’ income needs. The primary focus is consulting and advising on fixed income portfolios using bonds, products such as ETFs, mutual funds and separately managed accounts (SMAs), as well as wealth management offerings. The leader will be influential in shaping our overall distribution and support strategy, working closely with key partners and constituents to define the team’s value proposition and role within a dynamic and broad sales organization. This will require the successful candidate to have a clear vision, adapt to evolving firm and client needs, and successfully help their team navigate change to meet the needs of our clients today and tomorrow.
The role will engage with senior leaders throughout Schwab, requiring them to be well versed in all client types and how the Income Solutions team can add value to each. The successful candidate will be well versed in the regulatory environment and policies that govern the business and is expected to be an active contributor in policy, product, service, strategy, and governance meetings.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide direction and oversight to a geographically dispersed team, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture
- Design and implement effective processes and procedures to support Retail Financial Consultants and their clients, ensuring consistent delivery of income-oriented investment strategies while minimizing risks
- Help develop and lead the execution of strategic plans to evolve the team’s offerings in alignment with the needs of the clients and the firm
- Lead efforts to integrate the team into the broader distribution organization, promoting cross-functional collaboration and clear communication of responsibilities and value
- Guide the team through organizational and industry changes, ensuring adaptability and resilience while maintaining high standards of service
- Establish and track key metrics to evaluate team effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
What you have
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years in financial services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large teams
- Strong expertise in fixed income and income-oriented investment solutions and products, and the distribution of these investments
- Strong leadership, strategic vision, and management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the organization and with partners
- Passion for service, professionalism, positivity, and strong work ethic with a high level of integrity and teamwork
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required
- Active Series 7, 66, 24, 52 and 53 licenses required (or equivalent)
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated strengths in recruiting to build a strong team, coaching team members to deepen skill and elevate performance, and collaborating with business partners
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes and ensure accuracy in all aspects of team operations
- Capable of identifying and developing forward-thinking plans and adapting strategies to meet changing needs
- Proven ability to lead teams through change and drive successful outcomes
- Demonstrates a commitment to achieving goals and managing multiple priorities, holding yourself and others responsible for results
- CFA, CIMA, CFP, or equivalent preferred
