Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thinking meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

The Broker-Dealer Modernization Operations Office is leading a multi-year transformation of Schwab's core brokerage platform and operational ecosystem. Working across Operations, Technology, enterprise partners, and strategic vendors, you'll help modernize critical broker-dealer capabilities, reduce legacy dependencies, expand automation, improve data accessibility, and create simpler, more resilient operating models that support Schwab's future growth.

What You'll Do

As Director, Solution Strategy & Vendor Enablement, you will lead the Operations evaluation and configuration of future-state broker-dealer solutions. You'll help determine how Schwab leverages vendor capabilities, existing platforms, integrations, and targeted customization to deliver scalable business outcomes.

This role serves as a critical bridge between Operations, Technology, and vendors, ensuring business requirements are translated into effective solution decisions, operational workflows, controls, and sustainable support models. You'll influence complex decisions, drive alignment across stakeholders, and help shape the future operating environment for Schwab's broker-dealer platform.

Initially, you'll operate as a senior individual contributor leading through influence in a highly matrixed environment. As the program evolves, you'll have the opportunity to build and lead a team supporting modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Operations strategy for evaluating, configuring, and implementing vendor and internally developed solutions supporting broker-dealer capabilities.
  • Assess solution alternatives and recommend the appropriate balance of standard functionality, configuration, integration, and targeted customization.
  • Translate business capabilities and operational needs into prioritized, traceable, and testable solution requirements.
  • Establish governance, decision frameworks, and requirement traceability to support effective solution design and business tradeoff decisions.
  • Partner with Technology, platform teams, and vendors to define integration, data, workflow, resiliency, and operational support requirements.
  • Ensure operational controls, access management, auditability, reporting, exception management, and business continuity considerations are incorporated into solution design.
  • Collaborate with Operations subject matter experts across broker-dealer functions to align future-state solutions with business needs and operational outcomes.
  • Partner across modernization workstreams to ensure solutions can be successfully tested, implemented, supported, and sustained.
  • Develop measures of implementation readiness, solution completeness, and operational fit.
  • Build strong partnerships across Operations, Technology, and vendor organizations while helping shape the future team structure needed to support modernization objectives.

  • Experience translating business capabilities and operational needs into solution requirements and design decisions.
  • Experience evaluating vendor platforms, commercial software solutions, or large-scale internally developed systems.
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, controls, integrations, data access, testing, and support models.
  • Proven ability to influence complex decisions across Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Product, and vendor stakeholders.
