Your Opportunity

Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a skilled engineer with disciplines that incorporate aspects of software systems engineering and operations. We are combining these
skills to come up with better ways of managing and operating applications.

What you’ll do:

  • Evangelize the SRE mindset and drive reliability, scalability, and efficiency through systematization and AIOps-driven insights.
  • Identify opportunities to build innovative tools and solve unique operations problems across large-scale, mission-critical enterprise applications.
  • Create and maintain automation scripts and intelligent auto-remediation workflows, integrating them into core infrastructure and operations.
  • Apply AIOps techniques — including anomaly detection, alert correlation, noise reduction, and predictive alerting — to proactively identify and prevent incidents.
  • Triage alerts, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve high-severity production issues using data-driven diagnostics and ML-assisted observability platforms.
  • Develop tools, frameworks, and instrumentation to validate deployments and increase rollout success for applications.
  • Evaluate and coordinate capacity planning using historical trends and AIOps-informed forecasting.
  • Develop and enhance CI/CD orchestration systems, embedding automated validation and reliability checks to reduce friction in software delivery to production.
  • Perform real-time troubleshooting of mission-critical application workflows and feed operational and AIOps insights back into product development teams.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations and contribute to post-incident analysis and automation improvements.

What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Skills:

  • 3–5 years of experience with enterprise-level administration and support.
  • 3–5 years of experience writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring, and setting up alerts for early issue determination.
  • 3–5 years of experience practicing SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), including process improvements and operational reliability practices.
  • Hands-on enterprise systems administration, monitoring, and deployment activities.
  • Hands-on experience applying AIOps concepts such as alert correlation, anomaly detection, and noise reduction in production environments.
  • Experience with AIOps platforms for incident prediction, automated root cause analysis, or self-healing workflows.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift) or cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Experience with Windows Server 2022 / Linux hosted via Virtual Machine.
  • Knowledge of IP networking including DNS, DHCP, firewalls, IP routing, etc.
  • Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
  • Linux and Windows system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Development experience in one or more programming languages such as .NET, PowerShell, Java, Python, or Bash, with a focus on automation and operational tooling.
  • Knowledge of one or more databases: SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of one or more message brokers: Solace, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, or Kafka.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, Datadog, Moogsoft, or similar AIOps-enabled monitoring tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Helpful Skills:

  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Agile and/or DevOps methodologies.

Personal Skills:

  • Strong customer orientation with an affinity to proactively own, communicate, and follow through on projects and issues.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability when resolving problems in distributed environments.
  • Tenacity and curiosity to dig deeper into technical issues within a complex trading ecosystem.
  • A self-starter with the ability and confidence to independently resolve issues and deliver results back to the team.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
