Your Opportunity

Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning

Schwab is continuing to modernize and scale its enterprise data engineering ecosystem, enabling secure, reliable, and governed data solutions across Cloud Data Warehouse, BigQuery, data integration, analytics, reporting, and emerging AI/ML use cases.

This Senior Data Engineer role will focus on designing and delivering scalable data pipelines, data models, integration patterns, and cloud-based data assets that support business intelligence, operational reporting, advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and broader enterprise adoption across Schwab.

We are seeking a senior, hands-on data engineer to strengthen delivery across Google Cloud, BigQuery, ETL/ELT, orchestration, data quality, metadata, lineage, access controls, production support, and release readiness. This role will help lead end-to-end solution delivery, establish reusable engineering patterns, improve development quality and automation, and mentor onshore and offshore engineers.

This is an opportunity to lead high-impact data engineering work on enterprise-scale cloud and warehouse platforms that enable trusted data, analytics, reporting, and AI/ML capabilities in a highly regulated financial services environment. The role will ensure data products are built with strong governance, performance, resiliency, auditability, and operational accountability as Schwab’s data platforms scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand strategic and business objectives, recommend appropriate solutions, and collaborate with architects to define the supporting architecture.
  • Evaluate new tools and software, conduct proofs of concept, and provide recommendations to enhance the enterprise technology landscape.
  • Work closely with Informatica, Google, and other product vendors to resolve product issues that impact delivery of requested features. When resolution takes longer, implement appropriate workarounds to keep deliverables on track.
  • Participate in project planning and resource allocation activities.
  • Define standards, guidelines, and best practices for design, development, and testing activities.
  • Perform ETL design, development, data management, and data analysis activities.
  • Create data models, perform performance tuning, define load plans, and ensure deliverables meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Plan, estimate, schedule, prioritize, and coordinate technical activities related to system development.
  • Ensure system alignment with architecture policies and best practices and confirm that established process methodologies are followed throughout system development.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data engineering solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and hands-on coding support to team members.
  • Identify opportunities for system reuse, simplification, and operational efficiency
