Schwab is seeking a specialist-level technical contributor to support database activity monitoring and data

protection within an increasingly complex environment. This role supports a large, diverse database estate and

multiple data protection platforms, while contributing to critical control domains including PCI and FFIEC.

The position operates with general direction and partners closely with teams across SCS Engineering,

Infrastructure & Operations, DDS, SIEM/SOAR, database, and application teams to execute established processes,

support automation initiatives, and ensure consistent delivery across identity and data protection programs.

This role is well suited for an individual who is continuing to build technical depth, applies strong analytical skills,

and contributes to operational standards through structured documentation, repeatable workflows, and cross-

functional collaboration.

Key areas of focus include database activity monitoring, database access governance, DLP, encryption, and

maintaining SOPs and metrics that support audit readiness and operational resilience.

Core Responsibilities:

• Support and operate database activity monitoring, data de-identification, database access governance,

and related data protection controls across on-prem and cloud environments

• Lead the expansion of cloud database monitoring coverage across GCP (CDW, PostgreSQL) and AWS

platforms

• Analyze and tune database activity monitoring incidents to reduce false positives and improve alert

fidelity

• Drive automation of repeatable workflows to enhance efficiency across data protection operations

• Manage tracking, measurement, and reporting of risk reduction and monitoring coverage metrics

• Maintain and continuously improve SOPs, metrics, and operational documentation to support PCI, FFIEC,

and internal audit requirements

• Support audits and regulatory reviews by gathering evidence and responding to control-related inquiries

• Partner with cross-functional teams to align tools, processes, and operational standards

• Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in database security and data protection domains

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field

• 1 year of cybersecurity experience, with hands on exposure to data protection or database security

controls

• Experience supporting security controls in production environments.

• Working knowledge of database activity monitoring, database access governance, DLP, encryption, and

data classification concepts

• Experience working with Active Directory, authentication, or identity related integrations.

• Familiarity with ITIL Change Management practices and production change processes.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate issues and contribute to practical solutions.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Experience using scripting or automation tools to improve operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant professional certification (e.g., Security+ or equivalent)

• Exposure to SIEM/SOAR tools

• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.

• Interest in continuous learning and structured problem solving
