We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design and support backend services and automation that strengthen Schwab’s enterprise risk posture across security, vulnerability management, and compliance. This role partners closely with Risk Management, Cyber Security, and application teams and requires in‑office collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and Python‑based automation supporting risk, vulnerability, and compliance workflows
• Develop APIs and data pipelines that enable vulnerability, EOL, and risk reporting
• Build and maintain Python scripts and services to automate data collection, analysis, reporting, and notifications
• Integrate security tooling outputs (e.g., Veracode, AppSec scans) into engineering and reporting workflows
• Apply AI and automation techniques to reduce manual risk processes and improve accuracy and timeliness
• Ensure production stability through monitoring, incident response, and root‑cause analysis
• Drive secure coding practices, code reviews, and remediation of identified risks
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across risk‑aligned initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• 6+ years of experience building enterprise‑scale backend or service‑oriented systems
• Strong proficiency in Python, including scripting, automation, and API integration
• Experience with RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and cloud platforms
• Hands‑on experience with vulnerability management or application security tooling (e.g., Veracode)
• Experience supporting audits, compliance controls, or risk reporting initiatives
• Familiarity with AI‑driven automation or analytics solutions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and risk stakeholders
