​​As Schwab continues to expand its digital asset capabilities, PMT requires a Level 57 Manager, Software Development & Engineering to provide technical and execution leadership for this business-critical platform. This role is responsible for driving platform strategy, leading complex cross-functional initiatives, establishing scalable engineering practices, mentoring engineering talent, ensuring operational excellence, and advancing modernization and AI-enabled software delivery capabilities necessary to support the platform's continued growth and strategic importance.​

Key Responsibilities:

• ​​Provide technical and delivery leadership for the Crypto Books & Records platform, ensuring the successful design, development, implementation, and support of scalable, resilient, and compliant solutions.
  
• Lead the execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning Crypto transaction posting, reconciliation, accounting, reporting, controls, and downstream integrations, while ensuring alignment with business and technology objectives.
  
• Establish and promote engineering best practices related to software design, code quality, testing, observability, operational excellence, security, and reliability.
  
• Lead modernization efforts by leveraging cloud-native architectures, event-driven design patterns, automation, AI-enabled development capabilities, and emerging engineering practices to improve scalability, quality, and delivery velocity.
  
• Champion AI-First Engineering, including Spec-Driven Development, AI-assisted software delivery, and engineering productivity initiatives that enable teams to deliver high-quality solutions more efficiently.
  
• Mentor and develop engineers by providing technical guidance, fostering a culture of continuous learning, encouraging innovation, and strengthening the organization's engineering capabilities.
  
• Drive accountability for delivery commitments, production stability, risk management, and operational readiness across the platform portfolio.
  
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, reduce operational risk, eliminate manual processes, and enhance the overall developer and customer experience.​

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Hands on experience gained through 7-8+ years in a software development role
• Experience with full stack application development technologies, RESTful APIs, Relational and Document-Based databases, and Cloud technologies
• The ability to work independently and to effectively interact and collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders
• The ability work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• The ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies
• Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment
• Excellent coding experience in C#/.NET (7+ years)
• Working experience with Kafka, Aerospike (NoSQL) database, Splunk (logging), JSON/XML, PCF (Cloud), Caching, Performance Analysis & Profiling, Twelve-Factor App Methodology, Resiliency Patterns, Observability Patterns, Agile Practices etc.
• Working experience building scalable and High-Performance applications
• Experience being a technical lead for a team and/or project
• Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Crypto and Digital Asset ecosystems, including transaction processing, Books & Records, reconciliation, and associated operational and regulatory
